Labour’s paedophile Twitter post

why do we hold Labour to a higher standard than the Tories when it comes to Social Media posts? Some of the vitriolic stuff put out by Tory HQ and their MPs goes unchallenged. Is it because Labour aspire to hold the higher moral high ground and the Tories… well are Tories and don’t care
Well we call out anything the Tories put out which is shameful so similarly we should hold the LP communications in the same way. If shameful, which I believe this is, then it deserves criticism.

Exactly

Same way I'd not want Boro's chairman to behead people. I look at the Geordies with disgust but they are not my club.

Guido has joined in too. I won't post as it will upset the usual suspects.

On twitter if you care to look.

Are Labour ever going to learn that personal attacks don’t work? 40 years now and they still make the same mistakes.

These points they are making are valid… so do it properly to make it count FFS

It's also inherently racist as they're using the image of Sunak alongside child abuse to trigger the link with "Asian Grooming Gangs".

I suppose it's very clever if you're into that sort of thing but it's also depressing and deeply disturbing coming from the supposed progressive left.

A disgusting way to ensure they won't be getting my vote come the election.

Lots of assumptions to say they are trying to link it to that.

One could argue they have used the prime minister as he leads the party.

You either assume that the people behind it are idiots and didn't think about the connotations or you assume they know exactly what they're doing.

Neither option will convince progressives that Labour are the party they should be backing.

Is it ok for Braverman to make the remarks she did regarding Asians. And Bojo accusing Starmer of protecting Saville. No it wasn't but absolutely nothing was said about them, nothing at all. I think it is right for Labour to throw all that back in their faces.

I agree the post is in bad taste, but to say the want people to link it to Asian gangs is far fetched

If they picked an Asian backbencher my view would be different

Plenty has been said about both things.
Johnson had to apologise in parliament for the second point.

No, it's a ridiculous assertion that someone who has only been PM for a few months doesn't want sex offenders jailed. I'm not even sure if Starmer has tackled Sunak on this subject.

Labour have a million miles to travel before they descend to anywhere near these tory scum.

The very fact that the link can be made without any real sophistry being involved means the people behind it should have seen the potential for that link to be made.

If they didn't then they're idiots and whoever signed it off shouldn't be anywhere near the leadership of the Labour party.

I think you'll find that the majority of the grooming gangs are Pakistan Muslims. Sunak is an Indian Hindu. Before the left wing kick in as well, there was a white paedo gang convicted in the West Midlands earlier this week, so unfortunately it's across all creeds & colours?

Johnson would have factored this in, as it was always likely to be necessary but he nevertheless went ahead and made the slur because he reckoned it would still benefit him. Utter corrupt scum.

You’re effectively saying though that if you use the prime minister and talk about anything linked to Asians and what they may do whether myth or true people should automatically make the connection.

He’s the prime minister, if they was a problem with putting sexual offenders behind bar the fact that rishi Sunak is Asian should matter. What should matter is he is the prime minister who oversees government

But like i say I don’t think that poster has a place for Labour. Gutter politics

No, I'm saying that if you create an ad like the one we're discussing, straight after the furore surrounding Tory ministers making accusations about asian grooming gangs, then you should be aware that those links can and will be made (and have been).

If you didn't think it through then you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the campaign headquarters.

If you did and then went with it anyway, you're no better than the Tories.

The Prime Minister, regardless of ethnicity, doesn't sentence criminals. At best you can argue that the laws around sentencing need amending, but you'd then need to show that you've raised that in Parliament and had it actively refused by the government.
