Kieran Scott’s recruitment really coming to fruition now

Now?
Excellent. Dieng, RVDB, Latte Lath, Ayling, Rogers
Good. O'Brien, Azaz
OK Glover, Engel
Poor. Silvera, Thomas, Greenwood
Showing potential. Bangura, Gilbert

Basically, I no longer rate anyone as a terrible signing. I think Bangura might prove to be excellent and you can't ask for anymore from Gilbert in the last two games.

I think that's fair, but I think Thomas has been ok after a rough start.

Certainly no better than what we have, but did ok as the stopgap we needed.

I have given Scott a lot of stick, but have also always said I have no problem saying if I was wrong.

Huge successes:

Rogers - was obviously a class act from a debut way out of position. Wish the club had not sold him.
Latte Lath - I got him hopelessly wrong. He is proving to be a very astute signing and very exciting.
Dieng - He's just a very good keeper, who suits our team and recruited for a bargain fee. Looked it from day one.
Ayling - I thought he would be awful, but has recently looked awesome.

Big successes:

Van den Berg - has made a very encouraging start and appears a great prospect.

Successes:

Bangura - very promising despite injury plagued season.
Gilbert - very encouraging recent form in recent matches for low fee.

Decent:

Greenwood - a much better player than he has shown recently until yesterday's cameo.
Thomas - improving with every outing.
Azaz - As cover for a new 10 he is decent value.
O'Brien - a little disappointing, but bad luck with injury.
J Jones - not sure why he was signed, but never expected him to feature.

Not good enough:

Engel - really needs moving on.
Silvera - really needs moving on.
Glover - much rather play our own young goalkeepers as cover.

In anybody's book that has turned out well and I have no problem saying so.

Fingers crossed the recruitments even better and with a bigger budget.

Well said 👍

It's not often that people are prepared to change their judgement so kudos for that.

I thought originally that our recruitment was a mixed bag and had over-emphasised quantity over quality but I think it's proven to be better and smarter than I gave it credit for.

Even a couple of minor things. I could see us selling Coulson and Glover for about £500k each this summer which will mean we've made a little profit on re-signing Coulson and the seemingly random signing of Glover.

If we can solve our injury crisis ahead of next season, things are looking well set.

Good summary but a little harsh on Engel who I would rate as decent.

I would say, in Engel's defence - along with his injury problems towards the end of the season he's struggled to adapt to the Championship. Let's face it, the Danish league is absolute cack.

I wouldn't write him off just yet, but I don't see him starting ahead of Bangura next season.

Vdb has to be in the huge success category the guy is an absolute star

I said on an earlier thread there are times when I wonder whether he is colour blind as he cannot pass the ball to one of our players. Looking at his attire on Saturday is probable confirmation of that. I dont think I would be too disappointed if we we went with Bangura and Engel as they have had such an in and out season, with more consistent appearances they will probably improve again. I will probably say this a lot this summer but I think Carrick and recruitment have a handle on things and will get who they need. I am not sure if we missed out on any realistic signings last summer or January so I think I am going to enjoy this window.

You will always get a certain number that dont fully make it with this strategy.
BUT the benefits of the one's that do are huge..
