Kieran Scott’s recruitment really coming to fruition now

He's done excellent on quite a small budget.He has also done some decent outgoings.Before he came along we where bringing in duds and over priced player's.He Is finding players who are unheard of to begin with but turning out to be decent.

dunno like, the ball was bouncing off him, he couldn't trap a ball for a couple of months and always turned into trouble. he looked crap tbh, very raw indeed. anyone saying we could see what a good player he would transform into within a few months is on crack. nobody saw it at all, it had barely happened apart from a few games and then we sold him.

yes he was quick and strong and was able to carry a ball up the pitch. but 90% of games you wouldnt forget he was on the pitch. i was hoping in an a season or two he'd become a key player. kid settled quickly. well done to him.

Nobody saw it at all? I saw it immediately and regularly posted about how good he obviously was. Check if you want.
He never looked crap, its just some people are crap at judging footballers.
This myth that he rarely did it for us is also complete bollox. 16 goal contributions in all competitions, the highest percentage per minute chance creation in the whole division, and it was evident how important he was to us by how much we struggled in the month after he left.
I wasn't on crack either, at least not that I can remember....

Weird because we were right. He was creative, dribbled and worked well when facing goal, he just isn’t a back to goal player, that was obvious

How much are they worth now if we sold them? Well we have already sold Rogers for somewhere around £15m. Guestimates of the values of the rest
Dieng - £5m, RVDB £15m, ELL £8m, Azaz £3m, Engel £1m, Silvera £500K, Bangura £1m?, Glover £500k so maybe £30-£35m in total then add the sale of Rogers and we're looking at £45-£50m.

That's a good hit rate and an impressive growth in value though nearly all the increase in value comes from Rogers and RVDB.

Basically, I no longer rate anyone as a terrible signing. I think Bangura might prove to be excellent and you can't ask for anymore from Gilbert in the last two games.

You can probably double Latte Lath’s estimated value now as well.

So more like £60m+ of assets from a £12m spend


Overall I would give Scott a 8.5/10 for his recruitment this season.

I don't even think there are any 'poor' signinings - Silvera, Thomas and Greenwood were all signed as squad players really and have showed flashes/potential and given us some great moments during the season (bar Thomas perhaps, though he nearly scored yesterday and v Cardiff).

I agree some players weren't even really squad players they were bought as low risk projects. I see silvera developing into a really good player, given time. The fact that Carrick continues to give him cameos suggests he is showing something in training.

Looking at what we paid for the players we bought I don't see any as having decreased in value.
 
Excellent recruitment this season, I’m really excited for the window.

Not bad for a fraud.

He gets a B+ from me.
 
I have given Scott a lot of stick, but have also always said I have no problem saying if I was wrong.

Huge successes:

Rogers - was obviously a class act from a debut way out of position. Wish the club had not sold him.
Latte Lath - I got him hopelessly wrong. He is proving to be a very astute signing and very exciting.
Dieng - He's just a very good keeper, who suits our team and recruited for a bargain fee. Looked it from day one.
Ayling - I thought he would be awful, but has recently looked awesome.

Big successes:

Van den Berg - has made a very encouraging start and appears a great prospect.

Successes:

Bangura - very promising despite injury plagued season.
Gilbert - very encouraging recent form in recent matches for low fee.

Decent:

Greenwood - a much better player than he has shown recently until yesterday's cameo.
Thomas - improving with every outing.
Azaz - As cover for a new 10 he is decent value.
O'Brien - a little disappointing, but bad luck with injury.
J Jones - not sure why he was signed, but never expected him to feature.

Not good enough:

Engel - really needs moving on.
Silvera - really needs moving on.
Glover - much rather play our own young goalkeepers as cover.

In anybody's book that has turned out well and I have no problem saying so.

Fingers crossed the recruitments even better and with a bigger budget.
