Keiffer Moore didn’t fit our model of play - apparently

So why doesn't that apply to Ayling and Thomas then?

Players who were contracted whilst in the PL?

Coburn, Lath, and Jones were injured and we knew that Rogers, Kav and Crooks were leaving, but then decided we didn't need a striker according to many on here as we weren't looking likely for promotion.

But happily loaned in Ayling and Thomas, and then loaned out Bilongo and Agyemang who could have covered for the injured Smith and Bangura if we were struggling through to the end of the season with what we had.

It just doesn't stack up as an excuse or reason, it's boIIocks.
I wouldn't have loaned them either. One difference though is that they are both out of contract in the summer so we may have brought them in with a view to them becoming permanent.

Ayling was def getting signed as you say he’s free so why else would he come.

Both out of contract in a few months and not wanted by their clubs, so we’re probably only paying a modest contribution towards their (already championship level) wages.

I would imagine Bournemouth were wanting all of Moore’s hefty £30k+ weekly wage covering

He would've cost a lot and we would've still had the rest of the squad the same as it is so promotion wasn't on the cards. It would've been a waste of money (even though he would've improved us). We would've needed a lot more signings to improve us to make it financially worthwhile.
How do you know that. We should of shipped squad players out if promotion wasn't on the cards. You are talking about a window that opened on Jan 1st. So there is no point in signing a player who would improve us. We did need a lot more signings but did not get them either.

Not a big Moore fan TBH but he is better than what we have. Would have liked to see Lath played off him.

£30k a week.
Personally I don’t mind us not spending the money we appeared to have in January (assuming we had some, and we spend it in the summer), promotion was a real long shot so why waste it.

I could understand if we identified a permanent signing…. But why waste a couple of million on a 6 month loan signing just so we can finish 9th rather than 13th

Please god no. And when they leave can they drop O'Brien and Greenwood off as well.

What sort of fact are we talking about? Actual facts are the ones that only exist on this forum. We should’ve put the Viduka insurance money into signing Moore shouldn’t we. Gibson doesn’t want us to get promoted. I blame Gary Gill.

I think hits the nail squarely on the head.

If we'd been in a better position, such as Ipswich's for example, we may have tried for him, but as it was it was dead money.

Ayling has started every league game since he joined us. He was signed to play as we knew that Smith was likely out for the whole season.
So exactly as I said. Ayling was signed to cover for Smith. He will not be at the club next season. He hasn’t done anywhere near enough to earn a contract. We’ll have Smith back to fitness and a new right in if Dijksteel leaves.

I expect Dijksteel to start on Wednesday. If he doesn’t then I’d be pretty concerned tbh.

I think the development of VDB played a part in it as well. We didn’t want to continue playing him at right back

Smith will be back to fitness ... Maybe?
He's not 26

I'd agree they had Ayling in as a plan B look that made sense ( local enough , doesn't need big money due to career earnings etc )

Either way, we need a first choice RB next year that's not got a locker at MFC right now

I think you have to look at Hull City their mainly loan signings have pushed them up into the top 6. Why didn't we show the same ambition as last janaury.
