Just tested positive for Covid

I've just an hour ago got my PCR test result back confirming I've got Covid after I took a test first thing this morning (Wednesday).

I've been double vaccinated with AZ and so far my symptoms seem reasonably mild with a slight fever and an irritating cough, along with a bit of aching muscles and joints.

First got symptoms on Tuesday evening, has anyone else tested positive after being vaccinated? If so, what symptoms did you get and how long did they last?

On the positive side its got me out of going to a Michael Bolton concert on Saturday 😃

If you have tested positive for covid after two jabs you will have to be put behind 'Steel Bars' until you 'Go the Distance' needed for isolation. 'I Promise You' that you can 'Lean on Me' and as for your Michael Bolton tickets, it is 'Time to let Go.'

On a serious note, my brother recently had Covid after his two jabs and only had mild symptoms of what you describe.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

There's always a silver lining to every cloud WeeGord. I can't imagine anything worse than having to go and see Michael Bolton. Sorry to hear that you're ill though. I'm pretty sure that I'd had it already way before we even had the vaccines available. Just felt a bit like a nasty bout of flu but I recovered fairly quickly and I'm double jabbed now. And you're a pretty young lad so I'm sure that you'll be fine. I didn't have any nasty lingering after effects either. I just felt like crap for a week or two and I've been fine ever since.

Several of my colleagues had it at the end of July and the beginning of August, they all had been double jabbed by the end of April. Most were youngish but some had difficulties with breathing and experienced blue lips and extremities from lack of oxygen, they recovered from the most severe effects but still have not regained sense of smell and taste,

Friend of mine has tested positive twice since being double vaccinated (I think with Pfizer). He had mild symptoms the first time, and none at all the next. He's a teacher so I believe he gets tested regularly.

On the other hand if you're older or in the vulnerable category, or if the immunity has worn off (4 to 6 months?) you might want to be careful.

The good news (apart from getting out of going to the concert) is you'll have natural immunity.

One of my colleagues who had it recently also had it in April last year. Naturally I had my concerns about the effectiveness of the jab. My colleague said this time around after catching it he wasn't great but he was way better than last April and he would definitely have the booster.
I think many people assume you won't catch it after the jab, which is wrong, Pfizer and Moderna on their initial tests only gave data for symptomatic people and ignored asymptomatic carriers, they were not included in the final efficacy data, or it would showed a much lower protection from carrying the virus.. The jabs help massively on the severity of cases, but you can still feel very ill. I have been very lucky so far, virtually all my work colleagues have had it and so have my neighbours, Exeter was awash with the virus in July and August, and our low vaccination rate + low immunity protection coming from a low immunity prevalence came back to haunt us. One thing I have realised with this virus is some people can have it again and again, only the severity is lessened.

My son had Covid in August. Despite living in the same house my wife and myself both double jabbed never caught it. Saying that my mate was double jabbed and he and the rest of his family all got it after one of them tested positive so no guarantees with it.

Know several people of varying ages who have got covis after 2 jabs and they all fully recovered within a week or 2 with fairly mild symptoms, aches, lethargy etc.

Best wishes and hope your feeling better soon. You'll get over missing Michael Bolton far quicker than even mild covid I suspect

Sounds like that old frozen chips advert...

Covid or Bolton????

Hope you stay relatively symptom free fella and don't let this stop you staying the Friday night drink and singalong thread.

One of my mates tested positive yesterday - he's double jabbed with AZ - he doesn't report any serious symptoms, just feeling hot and hold and knackered.

In all seriousness that’s the point of the vaccine you may get it once double jabbed but your symptoms should be quite mild.

get well soon!
