Jude Bellingham

Of course it’s irrelevant as Bellingham has two and a half years more experience. So it’s a different player. Early 21 Bellingham was only 17 still. He’s a man now
My point is no one knows how Gareth will go once all these options are fit.

But that is objectively not your point. Your actual point is that you know what Gareth will do because of something said two and a half years ago, which incidentally was about 4 months before he took us to the Euro 2020 Final.

Time to let this one go. You've been banging on about Southgate not rating Bellingham since before the World Cup and you are still doing it, even though he picked him at the World Cup and every game since.

Of course which is why what he said 2 1/2 years ago is irrelevant. That’s a lifetime in football. FWIW I’d be amazed of bellingham when fit isnt an auto selection

I wouldn't say poor, but I'd agree they aren't at the same level. Barnsley Beckenbauer, aside, of course.
Not even the same level as some English defences of yesterday year. Defensively we always had strength and depth but no longer it’s certainly by World Cup or European standards average.

Of course Bellingham will play as he’s undroppable now my point was about the attacking options and how exciting our line could be if picked.

But will they be is my point.

Whoever gets picked no doubt there will be fans whining about who isn’t picked. You can’t pick them all, we have lots of options

I'm kinda surprised nobody went up against Madrid more seriously for him tbh. Unless they put out feelers and were told there's no point cause his heart was set on Madrid, but imagine him filling Gundogan's spot at City or something, would have been monstrous.

Think you’re right, his heart was set on it and people were probably told not to bother. A bit like Haaland and City. Funnily enough the only other very strong link for Bellingham was Liverpool the season before.

Serious transfers like this are usually done and dusted a long time in advance, like Mbappe to Real. None of this Caicedo running between cities for medicals panic buying when you’re at that level.

Remember when the Geordies tried to gazump Man United for Rooney when he left Everton? 😂

Best English Talent for sometime. The maturity and way he carries himself is incredible and he seems totally non-phased with the move to Real Madrid - that should not be underestimated. We have seen many great players go there and it not work out and it can be a tough crowd to crack.

Whether the rumours coming out of Dortmund now are true or not and whether people like that type of thing the boy is clearly focussed and obsessed with being the best and surrounding himself with the best - maybe an element of Ronaldo in him.

Either way i hope his rise continues and as mentioned he has to be the focal point for England. He stood out like a senior player at the World Cup so the Euro's he has has to be the main man in that team.

Yeah that Rooney thing was the very definition of playing to your audience, they knew they could bud what they wanted and it wouldn’t happen and the gullible would lap up their ‘ambition’

Hopefully the attacking talent we have means an overdue end to Sterling in an England shirt.
He hasn’t started a game for almost a year, he barley got a kick after World Cup group stages and hasn’t had a kick since. He was phased out at the right time, let’s not pretend he hadn’t been a key player for the international side before that.

Next will be Maguire, I fully expect him to be a bench player at the next internationals and out the squad in a year unless he moves club and has a huge resurgence in form.

Not sure if it's true but I saw this post on Facebook.

The Borussia Dortmund dressing room is glad that Jude Bellingham is no longer there. His transfer was probably beneficial for the climate within the dressing room. A kind of mood has built up against the Englishman.

Above all, these 3 points massively disturbed a part of the team:

- One of the biggest issues is that Bellingham often waited after games for the team to thank the fans for their support. Only then did he make his way to the stands to receive applause on his own.

@Bundesliga This is said to have started in the 2021/22 season when Bellingham felt Erling Haaland was outranking him with the fans. After the Norwegian's transfer, Bellingham made his rounds alone.

In the dressing room it is said that the Englishman wants to be the centre of attention and that his teammates are only secondary.

- The words Bellingham used towards the team did not suit some of the players.

Some of these words came out when Bellingham insulted Nico Schulz during the match against Glasgow Rangers. Apparently this continued last season. Especially during training or at half-time in the dressing room, he is said to have been abusive towards his teammates.

@Bundesliga - Last season Bellingham was third captain and also on the team council. But he rarely did justice to the role. Because he was rarely the contact person for his teammates, took little leadership and was always moody internally.

The bosses at Borussia Dortmund also noticed these problems. In talks with Sebastian Kehl, the way he dealt with his teammates was a topic. They refrained from sanctioning the player so as not to jeopardise his transfer to Real Madrid.

It is important that there are players in the dressing room who put their finger in the wound, but the manner should be appropriate. That is why it was important for the bosses to sign a player who also fulfils this profile. Marcel Sabitzer.

@Bundesliga
I saw that, don't think it's true.

Loads of comments saying as much.

Facebook is full of crap like that these days, not sure what people get out of it. Whenever I see something like that now my first thought is that is probably BS, and if it's something I'm genuinely interested in it and can be arsed, will try to find the same from a different, more trusted source.

He had better players than him being kept out of the side for some time up to and including that World Cup.
Still, we can at least both agree that even Southgate now has marked his card.

I agree that is how Southgate will handle Maguire, but if he is not playing football he shouldn't be in the squad. He looks a way off doing that if he stays at United.

Like in Euro 2020. When he was in UEFAs team of the tournament, and was many people's outfield player of the tournament?
I agree he shouldn't be in the team now, but when he was in he was there on merit.

No he didn't he was quality at the last euros kept this place for maybe 9 months after and has now disappeared off into the sunset. Thanks for all your hard work, time for the young players to come through and shine. Was all done to perfect timing really.

He was brilliant in the Euros.

I wouldn't discount him just yet. Getting his game for Chelsea and played v well yesterday.
