*** Joshua vs Usyk 2 ***

It really was an embarrassingly pathetic display from Joshua at the end.

Hearn or one of Joshua’s team should have tried to get the mic off him and get him out of the ring.

Were they scared of him?
What was worse is they thought it was a good idea to bring him out for the post fight presser - where despite the tears he didn’t exactly do himself any favours.

Watched the fight again thismorning slightly more sober than i was last night.. i gave it 8-4 last night but probably 9-3/10-2 second time round 🤷🏻‍♂️
I always write down swing rounds that I've gave to one fighter but could see it going to the other, then I have a range of what I see as possible. I scored it 8-4 to Usyk but could have been anywhere from 7-5 Usyk to 9-3 Usyk. Don't see how anyone could even find a draw for AJ much less a victory.

Probably agree with that, which makes the split decision even more baffling.
There were a few rounds which could have gone either way. Not enough for it to be a split decision though. I think Joshua could have put more pressure on and followed up a couple of times when he caught him with good shots. But I think realistically it wasn't that Joshua didn't do enough, it's that Usyk was just too good. And that's no insult to anyone, Usyk is an unbelievable fighter and very few out there could cause him any more problems than Joshua did last night.

Just hope Usyk v Fury happens. Fury has never fought anyone whose faster with better footwork than him and Usyk has never fought anyone like Fury, big awkward good hand speed and footwork as well. A lot would be decided by the ref though if Fury is allowed to hold assuming Usyk isn’t too elusive he’d be clear favourite if they don’t allow the holding and leaning it would be a hell of a fight.

Tyson Fury has put his hat in the ring again, Usyk said he will only fight Fury. Thats obviously the next big fight.

Not sure where AJ goes from here.

I’d hope they can get a deal sorted with Wilder, be interesting to see who is the number 3 in the division and have that one finally put to bed.

If AJ could beat Wilder especially if he does it emphatically as let’s face it outside the big punch wilder is cr6p anyway it could tempt Fury into a final payday fight next year.

That's what it's all about for Joshua, trying to maneuver into position for a massive payday v Fury. He'd be comprehensively beaten but make a fortune.

There was a lad in my whatsapp group who had it 5-0 to AJ after 5 rounds - Couldn't understand what he was watching

Doubt Joshua will want anything to do with Wilder. If he’s capable of putting Fury on his **** 3 times then I think he nails Joshua.

He’s limited as a boxer but still ridiculously dangerous, especially for someone who can be a bit stiff like Joshua

It would also mean AJ going back to the US as well I’d imagine.

I can see AJ fighting Joe Joyce, there would be some interest in that fight with it being all British and could quite easily sell out Wembley.

Agree. Joshua would need the balls to go at Wilder and knock him out quickly, as I just don't see how Wilder doesn't land a big one every couple of rounds.

Fury Usyk I just see Fury as being way to big. Add his ringcraft that AJ lacks, and it's down to a big good un beats a good little un

Thought it was a good fight, but ultimately the class and level above from Usyk was so clear it was unbelievable a judge actually scored a win for AJ.

That judge needs booting out of boxing for good.

The amount of decisions from judges in recent history that have ruined matches is ridiculous.

I had Usyk 8-4 up (and that's giving AJ a generous round) and I could kind of understand if they scored it closer (maybe 7-5)...but although a draw would've been crazy, the fact a judge had AJ winning is genuinely a joke. What were they watching? He was pretty much schooled from minute 1.

AJ needs to go away for a good length of time, get his mind and head sorted if he wants to return to boxing.

I don't think it is about the money. He enjoys the competition, wants to improve wants to win. Wants to be a 3 times champ. The money is a great bonus on top.

My take on AJs future is that he absolutely should carry on. It isn't like the Wilder situation where he fought the first top boxer he ever fought and got comprehensibly beaten up 3 times. AJ has fought other top boxers and beaten them, he just couldn't deal with the head movement, footwork and handspeed of Usyk and there is no shame in that. The fact is he is still a dangerous boxer, still capable of knocking people out at the top level and could still win another title. PRobably not from Usyk who has his number. AJ has a couple of things going for him. Usyk and Fury are the top 2 and are older than him and the first thing to go is your speed, second your stamina. Those 2 could deteriorate quicker than AJ, power remains till the end and that is AJs forte. Second both Fury and Usyk have that bank of experience at amateur to rely on. Like any skillset they've done their 10,000 hours and probably won't seriously improve from there. AJ hasn't reached that point yet, so can shorten the gap.

Joshua needs to take a holiday then get back to the gym and get himself 2 or 3 fights to regain his confidence, knock some people out and get back to his old self. Put these 2 fights down to a learning experience, eat his humble pie and crack on to prove people wrong from within the ring.

Wilder might be done as a force. He lost pretty much every round against Ortiz and Fury except the rounds where he put them on the canvas. He took so much punishment in all 5 of those fights, and on top of that his legs went so quickly in the last 2 fights that I think any punch resistance has gone. Yes he always has that big right as a leveler, but his vulnerabilities are so stark now that I don't think he should be in a ring ever again.
