Josh Coburn

Everyone knows he is not fully match fit. It was never the plan for him to play as much as he did. Perhaps Carrick was think 10 to 15mins game time from the bench max....

But it all went out the window.

He got a massive learning curve last night, that in the premier league there are old heads like Thiago who are experts at nulifying his type of game

Josh gives as good as he gets and will only get stronger for the experience, he is a handful, last night showed areas of his game that he needs to fine tune but overall yet again I thought he was an outstanding focal point to try and build off.

I thought we really missed morgan Rogers running power with the ball too.

Be nice to see Azaz, Rogers, Greenwood and potentially Ayling fresh for Saturday away to Millwall.

O’Brien too may come off the bench on Saturday

We are getting a lot of experience back when you think we have clarke ayling and obrien plus the evergreen howson. If we can get a goal scorer in i think we could make a huge surge up the league

Coburn did really well. He was isolated all match and was just battering away at whatever scraps he was getting. I thought the referee was poor and there was at least 3 or 4 fouls against Josh where he didn't give it which would have made a big difference in terms of relieving a bit of he relentless pressure. On that note I felt like the ref missed a load of fouls against us. A couple of real obvious ones.

I think this is going to be an unpopular opinion and I felt sorry for him to be honest but he looked a fish out of water at times. Definitely put it down to his fitness but also I think that he's just a young lad still and was against much better players. We see him hold the ball up and lay it off well in the championship but last night he just couldn't do it all, and the amount of times he gave the ball away was frustrating. But then a lot of our lads did the same thing. Probably easier to criticise the striker who has done nothing all game with no service when he makes a mistake. I'd still have him in over latte lath in the league though

Did he actually have any easy options 90% of the time though? He was smothered by their defence with no one within 20-30 yards of him most of the match.

Worked his **** off when unfit.
Can't fault his effort.

We 100% need to bring in another striker to support them both if we're to try and make the play-offs this season as neither can be relied on to stay fit for the second half of the season.

I'm sure we are looking for a striker as a priority. Coburn works his socks off and is a decent finisher but at this stage in his development should be a 3rd choice striker for us.

I still think he’ll comfortably have a career at the top end of the championship, minimum.

One thing I would say, get some proper studs in those boots joshy cause you slipped in good positions a few times!

Lad was a warrior, literally falling over with exhaustion at one point. Shows how stretched we are, with the lads on the pitch not necessarily fit enough to be considered in normal circumstances. Josh, Crooks, Howson, Barlaser and Jones would all have come off in normal circumstances as they were cooked after 60 mins.

Clearly not fit (managing a hernia?) but run himself into the ground for the cause. Can't ask for more, did exactly what was asked of him.

Not his best game by any means, but he can be excused that.👍

I think carrick is a huge fan of josh now. I expect coburn to get better and better with each season. People forget how long it took kane to become the player he is coburn is still learning his trade but improving all the time
