Johnson to resign shortly it would seem

That was always going to the case you can’t have a vacuum but he’s now an impotent one.

A caretaker in all but name.

How can anything get done? Months of a crippled government. You can't progress any significant policies.

Good news for labour though.

It’s the summer recess anyway nothing is crippled.

In fact it’s the ideal time.

is it though I feel like they will get a new manager bounce with plenty of time to rally the troops for the next election, but Johnson had to go

Can't wait to see him at the lectern today. All contrite and disappointed - that the media have hounded him out of office and thus derailed all of the good things he was doing.

The fan boys postscript will be that Brexit failed because we as a nation abandoned Boris.

Bye bye C, of the highest order.

NB: I was poised to have a celebratory beer last night but the good news did not arrive. I'm at work now and given that I'm not a boozy tory, I might just have to go take a celebratory dump. More fitting perhaps - I will name is Boris and I just know it won't flush.

Yes but there are a number of ongoing long term policies currently being progressed. These presumably have to be paused?

Summer recess doesn't mean everything stops.

With an active conflict in Ukraine and decisions needing to be made about funding, weapons etc I think we need someone who hasn't just admitted to meeting Lebedev unaccompanied when he was Foreign Sec.

Despite Parliament being in recess the PM's duties don't stop - he is effectively being allowed to continue for 3 months unsupervised. That isn't right. We have a Deputy PM for a reason.

No he’s gone.

He should step down completely and allow Raab to oversee the summer recess period there's no benefit at all in allowing him to continue in any capacity, whilst I did not rejoice in the death of Thatcher I know others did but I will rejoice today that the worst PM we will ever have is stepping down and hopefully away from frontline politics forever, the moral vacuum he created has gone and whilst it will take years to right the wrongs of his Premiership he can no longer inflict any more damage on us as a country or cast shade on the position of Prime Minister.

A great day for Britain, British Politics and hopefully a lesson learned that cult of personality politicians are great for entertainment but the clowns in the circus should never be given the ringmasters role.
