Johnson in Wonderland

A difficult read and it's a shame it takes a German newspaper to nail the Johnson effect when millions continue to be in denial about the damage this Govt has caused.

A good read but thoroughly depressing.

I reside in Europe and have not lived in Britain for many years. The general consensus I experience is Europeans are sympathetic towards Brits because the nation is in such a downward spiral. It began as gentle ribbing and perhaps even gloating in the immediate aftermath of Brexit but it’s evolving into a more genuine concern for the people. It’s hardly milk and honey for us with regards to the energy/inflation crises but it’s apparent that it is more serious in the U.K. I fear for my family and friends back in the North East.

It's a brilliant yet utterly awful article at the same time. Down the rabbit hole is a good analogy and it seems nobody dare even suggest things are going badly.

The whole situation shows the Tory Party "donors" are really calling the shots. Labour dare not say Brexit is a disaster or even rejoining the Single Market and Customs Union is the most sensible thing to do for British people. They know the Billionaire controlled media will go into overdrive and the hard right Tories will have a field day.

I just hope the younger generation have a bit more about them and realise Britain's future belongs as a close trading and political partner to the EU again. There are no sunlit uplands I'm afraid. This is not the 19th Century and Britain doesn't have an Empire.

Wow! Thoroughly left wing mag prints anti-brexit rant by German who is desperate for the BIG state and consumed with anger that we left. Bless! Perhaps he should devote more time to solving his own and other Euro countries problems with their dependence on Putins Gas.
What is incorrect about the article?

Thoroughly depressing not just because Johnson is still wielding influence via the party donors but a large bloc of the British Public have and still support him and enabled him to wreak havoc on our democracy and economy.

In reality he has taken the Great out of Great Britain.

The New Statesman used to be edited by Boris Johnson so you are talking complete tosh.

😂😂😂😂

Not in the slightest bit embarrassed. I'm no fan of Boris Johnson who has demonstrated that he is an opportunist. The fact that he used to edit the mag has no relevance to the mags current political position.

Highlight the inaccuracies in the article…
The fact you kept saying “he should solve his problems” despite the fact that the article was written by Annette Dittert suggests you may not have given it your full attention. Just a hypothesis.

You're thinking of the Spectator.
I am and apologise. That said the New Statesman is not “far left” It has a wide spectrum of contributors from Andrew Marr to Rory Stewart and is described as liberal progressive in its political outlook.

And talking of the Spectator.

You are quite correct. I am happy to confirm that Anette Dittert may well be both a woman and German.

Very good article which, whilst damning Johnson, has a fair bit of contempt for Starmer and his approach.

Now the inaccuracies…
Let's start with: "the manifest cruelty (and, most probably, utter illegality) of the Rwanda deportation policy. " Rubbish on both claims.
".. the British public is no longer bound for Wonderland. Rather, it is free-falling into the unknown," Really?
"Hitting rock bottom will be hard." Hmm, she's a mystic, predicting that not only will we hit rock bottom but that it will be hard. Perhaps she should enlighten us further.

You live in Europe and it's "hardly milk and honey for us with regards to the energy/inflation crises but it’s apparent that it is more serious in the U.K.". Is it apparent? Or is that the way it's spun by the EC?

You've just given opinions without any facts there again.
