Johnson accused of 'contempt' for north by snubbing Doncaster for Kiev

I can only imagine that he urgently went to see Zelensky the day after the EU to convince him that joining up with the likes of Germany and France would be a disaster for the Ukraine…..

Or offer his services for the Ukrexit campaign in a few years time.

How do you know? I honestly don’t have a clue what other countries are doing
But youre happy to compare the government to others when the shoe fits

Im not saying the government is perfect but on this very message board we have 3 threads on exactly the same title, story yet as far as I can see I applaud tbat hes going to Ukraine, im glad hes speaking out againat Putin

Interesting that Bozo pledges yesterday to help to rebuild Ukraine if/when the Russians pack it in, peace is sorted. Getting in there early.
Major party doners are big boy property developers/ construction/civils/infrastructure companies......
"Levelling up" the North has stalled or generally been branded poor value for money and badly organised. Tories expecting to start to get a bit of sh*t for this, so Bozo does a runner to Ukraine where ANY help in ANY form is welcomed. What a hero, eh?
Again, the north will be abandoned and the money will be moved to Tory mates and billionaires under the guise of "helping to rebuild Ukraine" humanitarian project........🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

People who accuse the current Tory Party of contempt for the North obviously were not around in the 1980s or have forgotten. It was in a different league.

I remember most of industrial buildings and facilities flattened and nothing done to replace it. Most of the coal mines of the North were closed, all the shipyards, half of the Steel industry, most of the heavy industry. Very few of the promised service sector jobs arrived.

Interesting commments - Its important that the Tories are not allowed to abandon the North and for the Labour Party to build a foundation for a new economy/opportunities for the L/left behind (if they are elected)

Or did the EU leaders know BJ was going & thought best to get there 1st before he does, get the limelight

I’m afraid you’ve got this the wrong way round bud. The EU leaders went out and he didn’t want them to steal all the limelight, so he ditched his jolly to the North to discuss levelling up (and face difficult questions) for no other reason that a photo opportunity. There was absolutely nothing erstwhile or honourable about him going when he did. He could have fulfilled his commitments and gone today. We all know he likes to take his weekends off so presumably he didn’t have much scheduled..
You must have sussed the character of the man by now?
He really isn’t the ‘Boris’ you seem to think he is.

Thats fine, when he messes up he's bombarded on here, thats the way it is, then when ge does the right thing he's again bombarded on here, for who he is

He didn’t do the right thing, though.
The right thing would have been to fulfil his commitment and schedule in Doncaster, and go to the Ukraine afterwards or on a different day, like today or tomorrow for example.
That’s what you or I would have done, I’m sure.
That would have been the right thing to do.

Fantastic bit of reasoning there...

Oh well I've only had an arm and a leg cut off, I could have had both arms and legs cut off so I'm winning really.

Anyone who doesn’t think this was a last minute arrangement in his own political interests is an idiot.

Gove attended the conference instead of him, but by Zoom. If this had been prearranged well in advance, as No. 10 claims, then his replacement would have been there in person.
Anyone who doesn’t think this was a last minute arrangement in his own political interests is an idiot

Well im happy to be an idiot then, I will listen to anyone who are in some sort of governing capacity & make my own mind up

Why should I have thought otherwise, he's been over to Ukraine a number of times now, were all them last minute arrangements

TBH, no need to call people idiots either

You’re blind to him, that’s clear.

And you are not coming across as the most developed thinker in this thread, I’ll be honest with you.

He has been to Ukraine a few times and pretty much all of them were when he wanted to dodge something he didn't want to deal with at home.

Remember, this is a waste of skin who hid in a fridge to avoid answering a few questions.

Developed thinker

I mentioned what he's done in his support of Ukraine, why the need to have a go at him over 3 identical threads, instead of continuing on the one & yes, he's done what any government who was in power of the UK would have done & wgoever it was I would have said exactly the same

I don’t think I have compared us to other governments, as I don’t really know what they do. May have made generic statements about proportional representation making over governments more progressive.

I was merely stating that how do you/we know he’s doing more than other countries,

Fair point Gaz

Point taken @FabioPorkpie, your one of the last posters, along with AM that I would disagree with, your always polite with whatever you post, so I will take onboard your comments

I can only say it as I see it

Thanks Erimus. Your opinion is just as valid as anybody else’s of course. I just sometimes think Johnson takes advantage of decent folk like yourself, who want to see the good in people, and he uses that to his advantage.
Have a good weekend 👍

He was on a win,win with the Rwanda thing, with the ECHR….it had telegraphed by them for months, that if it went ahead there would be an intervention. He wins anyway it goes.
NIProtocol is working fine for him, at the moment. The DUP are playing their part well. Bad EU interfering.
The bonus train strike coming up, or Labour’s Train strike that he’s taken to calling it.
The constant Statesmen like visits to Ukraine. Trying put forward an image of a man that can be relied on.
Probably before the summer recess some goodies will be pulled from the bag.
When they come back in September. He’s going to call a snap election.
Before things start to get bad in Oct-November. Further energy price rises and winter showing what the real effects are going to be. Add the inflationary rises due across the spectrum. Last roll of the dice.
