Johnson accused of 'contempt' for north by snubbing Doncaster for Kiev

Anyone who doesn’t think this was a last minute arrangement in his own political interests is an idiot

Well im happy to be an idiot then, I will listen to anyone who are in some sort of governing capacity & make my own mind up

Why should I have thought otherwise, he's been over to Ukraine a number of times now, were all them last minute arrangements

TBH, no need to call people idiots either
You voted for him, big deal. You don't have to be blind to what he's all about.

So, the PM has to attend a meeting of and it is expected there will a fair bit of moaning, maybe even a bit of sarcasm. To avoid this he goes to Ukraine and makes a public appearance alongside someone who is a constant target for snipers, missiles, drones etc. Yeah that sounds like the easier gig of the two..

Firstly, I'd like to underline the fact I have the utmost respect for Erimus and despite our different political leanings his postings are some of the first I look for, and on a personal level he has taken the time to message me about personal things and offer his Hest wishes and support in the past.

I consider him to be a very kind, thoughtful and caring guy and despite our differences would consider us board 'friends' and have nothing but the very best of thoughts for him and his lovely family.

In regards to Johnson we have opposing opinions. It's no secret I have nothing but contempt for him and his lying, corrupt ways. His trip to Ukraine was undoubtedly to avoid more awkward boos and protesting and the fact he ran and hid from that shows he is not only lacking in morals but also lacking in minerals.

With just days before the election it was critical for him to show himself in a vulnerable red wall seat and he ran instead, hiding behind the convenience of a trip to Ukraine.

On that matter in isolation I believe its one of the few positives that can be given; Johnson and ourged governments response to the tragic war in Ukraine has largely been positive and supportive for the poor Ukrainians suffering at the hands of Russian aggression. I support our response as a nation and applaud the one decent thing Johnson has done.

However, to think his recent trip there at the expense of coming up North to the very red wall seats that put him in power was anything other than running and hiding is naive. He's a rabbit in the headlights and while it might not be next week or even next month he is toast and all the time he refuses to do the honourable thing millions suffer.

As I say I know enough about Erimus to know that despite our differences politically he is as genuine and lovely a guy as there is on this board, and know that despite our differences he won't take my opposing stance personally and our mutual respect will remain.

Of all the things to bash him for , it’s this ?

With all due respect , Ukraine needs supporting more than Doncaster at the moment.

He should resign and he probably has done this to get out of confronting some of his own mps. But if I had to pick doing a speech in boro as prime minister of the country or going to Ukraine to outline what we will be doing soon to help them , it’s a no brainer it has to be Ukraine

Or alternatively, he could've done both.

Stop defending poor judgement.

He went to Kiev, not much risk there. If he'd followed Zelensky to the front line in southern Ukraine then fair enough but he didn't. You're giving him an easy ride.

Absolute tosh. What he did in Ukraine yesterday could have been done anytime or even by Zoom. Deflection is the name of the game here and the deluded lap it up.

It's an Andrew in the Falklands gimmick

Why do people fall for this absolute nonsense....oh hang on

You're a better man than me WeeGord. My opinion of him is the polar opposite to yours but everybody has their own views.

For me he's doing as much, if not more than any other country in his support towards Ukraine & its people
That’s just not correct at all, stop believing the ***** this government is feeding you and do a bit of research, you’ll find other countries are doing far more

Here’s what some people had to say:

Fancy feeling safer in war torn Ukraine than in Wakefield

So Boris Johnson is doing the best he can to help his Wakefield and Tiverton by-election candidates today by going as far away as he can, to Kyiv. At some time Ukrainians are going to realise he exploits them as much as he uses everyone else.

Johnson could not risk being booed in Doncaster the week before the Wakefield by-election.

So he flew to Kiev.

We see you.

Using @ZelenskyyUa, using a country’s torment and hideous losses for political cover, yet again. Despicable. Obscene. Get your shabby self to Wakefield to hear the boos. pic.twitter.com/PF2ogN88iC

If you’re Johnson, Kyiv is safer than Wakefield. https://t.co/kxSjdUZV9n

Johnson last minute cancels a trip to the North of England, Wakefield and Tiverton & Honiton where he would get his **** kicked, instead goes to Kyiv to get his a*** licked

We have an expert on close protection. Red Wall MPs would still be my choice.

Boris always has a get out clause when he looks to be in a tight corner. The trip to Ukraine was just one more in a long of them. God knows where he will be next Friday after the bye elections. Is Carrie due to drop another sprog ?
