Jasper Alberta Gone

One of the most iconic beautiful mountain towns in the world is no more. Gone up in smoke. Extremely upsetting news. Jasper Park Lodge iconic world wide lodge gone. Maligne Lake Lodge gone, Townsite gone. The whole town and park was evacuated a few days ago. God knows how they got backcountry hikers and campers out. I just can't believe it! The fire reach the town last night and it would seem it has done critical damage. They had to evacuate the fire fighters as the fire and smoke was that bad. Terrible news to wake up to. Could happen to Banff / Canmore area very easily as all around those town are massive amounts of fuel on the ground ready to burn. Just waiting for a match from mother nature.

Oh god, what awful news. I visited the town twice in the early noughties whilst doing a road trip of the Ice Fields Parkway and the four national parks therein. It’s a stunningly beautiful area. Am gutted to hear this news.

Terrible news. We were due to drive up there from Banff today. Have friends who live and work there, all now relocated to Kamloops and Calgary.

Awful news. I had two very happy trips there with school ski groups a few years ago. Some historic buildings gone as well as many people's livelihoods.

Sad news indeed. Before recently having to cancel (due to an unexpected medical difficulty) our summer vacation to Alberta, our lass and me had been booked to stay at the Jasper Park Lodge just two weeks back as one of our stops.

You have been both unlucky and lucky so it seems Ravs. Hope all is well on the medical side.
