January window?

I think the key thing in January is adding players with the right attitude. This season is going to come down to who wants it most. I suspect some championship players know they will be out of there current club is they get promoted.

Someone on another post made a similar point. Of our current permanent squad who would survive in the premiership?

Brynn maybe
Rav
Hackney
Morris
Azaz
Lath
Conway
McGree

Some others would just about do, but those are the ones I reckon would most likely step up.

Borges, Edmondson, Forss would probably be around the starting 11 I guess.

So I think anyone we bring in will be someone like Morris and Doak who clearly have a winning attitude. And really want to play at the higher level.

I suspect a midfielder and another goalscorer will be brought in. 2 vital positions in how we play and lacking in cover.
If we go up there will be a huge clearout with those players staying

If we stay down there will be a huge clear out as many of those top players will leave for good money and our current sub par players will be sold to make squad space for a rebuild

Strikes me that this year, like last year, the three promoted teams are odds on to come straight back down. That's despite Ipswich having a net spend of over £100m while Southampton and Leicester have both had a net spend of over £50m. The latter two obviously had a stronger squad due to having spent time in the Premier league before relegation.

At this point, it looks like we could get promoted, spend £100m and still come straight back down. Meanwhile, good odds on 2 of the promoted teams this season being Burnley and Sheffield Utd going straight back up. If we don't get promoted, Leeds probably will. Looks more and more like a closed shop in all but name in the Premier league these days. 6-8 teams yo-yoing while our only hope is for some of those teams to implode so we maybe get a chance to join the yo-yo group.

That’s always the case with the three promoted being most likely to come back down. We’re not promoted yet nor is the season even half way over to even start predicting future failure should this season be successful.

Promoted teams can and do make it in the premier league
4th Brighton - our karanka era inferiors
6th Forest - helped up by djed spence
8th Brentford - promoted 2021
10th Fulham - Traore & Muniz doing well
12th Villa - helped up by Tony pulis
13th Bournemouth - Tavernier keeping reet

If it wasn’t for Monk & Pulis we would have been in that mix.

Championship is the 2nd tier and all the excuses in the world won’t make it otherwise. We need to get out of this league and we have player.. and have had players that could make us competitive.

You have to spend with one eye on relegation otherwise it’s a waste of time
