It's always Jam Tomorrow with #BentBen Houchen

That's a strange report to say the least. Their first piece of evidence that Net Zero isn't working is a link to the closure of an ammonia plant, which is totally unrelated to carbon capture.

The second piece of evidence is a link to Bloomberg and is called "Hydrogen is a complete waste of time" (their quotation marks) but when you follow the link, what the article actually says is Hydrogen bets are a complete waste of time (why the quotations if they are going to misquote?) and is written by a hedge fund manager explaining that there will be no opportunities for quick profits from hydrogen, and predicting that these will be longer range ie. ten to fifteen years down the line.

Whilst we can't guarantee for sure that all or any of these projects will materialise, the work is still in the planning phase and we don't require dishonest articles to talk them down.

Hi Ben

The second piece of evidence is a link to Bloomberg and is called "Hydrogen is a complete waste of time" (their quotation marks) but when you follow the link, what the article actually says is Hydrogen bets are a complete waste of time (why the quotations if they are going to misquote?) and is written by a hedge fund manager explaining that there will be no opportunities for quick profits from hydrogen, and predicting that these will be longer range ie. ten to fifteen years down the line.

You do realise that the appetite of the financial industry (including hedge funds) to invest in hydrogen has a direct link with the actual deliverability of such projects?

Every time somebody posts that website as if it's some kind of revolutionary investigative journalism, it's a load of clickbait. At least Private Eye occasionally do their research properly .

It's journalists doing what journalists should do.

What do you want, the Tories writing the headlines and ridiculous press conferences where journalists are excluded if they somehow get to ask a difficult question?

To be fair private eye got quite alot of info from there. He post sources surely its better than the gazette printing one of houchen's press releases word for word as news.

It's journalists doing what journalists should do.
Journalists shouldn't twist things, or mislead by including something that has nothing to do with the subject whilst implying that it has. Nor should they be wilfully misquoting people to further their agenda.

This I'm afraid, is an example of journalists doing what they do and not what they should be doing.

Oh I agree, we wouldn't have seen a Tory government since WW2.

If what you say is true, I've no idea whether or not it is, then they're doing it against those with the money and power and will soon get their comeuppance. Unfortunately we haven't the means to take the local rags and national press to task over their daily untruths.

As posters know I want the area redeveloped so it can still support a significant population, opposed to seeing the area as a post-industrial nature reserve. With a near by working class population dependent predominately on welfare benefits or drug dealing and retired folk reminiscening about working for ICI and British Steel in the 1970s.

I'd like to see some new facilities going up, not just videos of things being blown up and plans of how its going to look in 2035.

The author of that report is known to me personally, and takes great exception to being labelled a clickbait generator. Perhaps Colin prefers his "journalism" from people such as Mike Hughes of the Northern Echo, who hasn't got out of bed for six years, but just copies and pastes Ben Houchen/TVCA press releases verbatim and publishes them under his own byline

Ray Casey has wrote that same article numerous times with no evidence to back it up other than a quote from one person at bloomberg.
