I went into a pub in Saltburn last night and the pint I ordered cost £5.00.
The shocking thing is that I wasn't shocked

If it was York that would be a lime and soda !Ouch!
What was it and was it any good?
My slightly embarrassed answer to that is - I don't know what it was It was just the next one along the taps from the pint I'd just had. I remember that one Motorhead - Roadcrew.Ouch!

wow - what year was that? I remember 35p - 79ish in there13p in the Linny
I know which of those 2 pubs I'd be ini'm regularly told by bar staff and landlords, that its the brewers who are jackin'up the prices - it may well be true, i dont know. i dont see the invoices.
however 2 pubs i use not 500 yards apart both sell a beer (amongst a selection of 10-15 choices) thats the same name, by the same brewer, its got the same %alc strength - its the same ale - yet in one place its £4.60 and in t'other its £5.80.
this may reflect different rent agreements, different staff rates of pay, number of staff etc etc - i do understand that and take it into account - however to me it means £20 for 4pints with change, or more than £20 with no change - i'm comfortable with 1 but not the other.
and ultimately, thats my choice, neither of em force me to buy & drink it
I think we paid £1.40 for a pint in the Linny in 1991 when we first started going in.13p in the Linny
Someone on Saturday was telling me they'd paid £11.50 for 2 pints of something obscure in Stockton recently, I think in the Hope & Union it's calledI went into a pub in Saltburn last night and the pint I ordered cost £5.00.

In the George or Stap no doubtI paid 25p for my first pint - I always said I would stop drinking if it ever reached £1 a pint.
