Where was that , the RoyalI paid 25p for my first pint - I always said I would stop drinking if it ever reached £1 a pint.
Eston RoyalIn the George or Stap no doubt
It is the breweries jacking up the prices. They are doing it with rents too.i'm regularly told by bar staff and landlords, that its the brewers who are jackin'up the prices - it may well be true, i dont know. i dont see the invoices.
however 2 pubs i use not 500 yards apart both sell a beer (amongst a selection of 10-15 choices) thats the same name, by the same brewer, its got the same %alc strength - its the same ale - yet in one place its £4.60 and in t'other its £5.80.
this may reflect different rent agreements, different staff rates of pay, number of staff etc etc - i do understand that and take it into account - however to me it means £20 for 4pints with change, or more than £20 with no change - i'm comfortable with 1 but not the other.
and ultimately, thats my choice, neither of em force me to buy & drink it
A pint of cider was a lot cheaper, I have 12p in my mind, but only the bar flies drunk cider then.Where was that , the Royal

JT stood with a pool queue with a pin taped to the end. When the barmaid went to collect the glasses, he would reach over and stab a block of Golden Virginia with the pin from behind the bar.The bar flies, that's putting it mildly, pish cans more like, good lads, good times, and the best jukebox ever.

I remember when there was only one barman working one afternoon, he went down to the cellar to change a barrel, as soon as he disappeared down stairs the "bar flies" filled their glasses, and pockets, and sat all innocent looking when he came back, must have cost s fortune till they sussed it out, where all the stock was goingJT stood with a pool queue with a pin taped to the end. £2.20 a pint in The Sun in Stockton last week. Popped in to watch the cricket, still recovering.
