It’s Cattermole

I’m absolutely behind Lee if this is true but it would be a terrible appointment. Another case of Steve Gibson throwing a young coach into a job that’s way too big for them.

Absolutely reckless decision from Gibbo and co; if true.

We're not too big to go down to League One, it's happened with Sunderland, City, and all sorts of huge clubs ... I have always hoped I do not see it happen to us in the near future.

Unfortunately, I think appointing Lee Cattermole after Wilder has totally drained the confidence of each and every one of our players, is just going to hasten the inevitable. I can't believe I am writing this, to be honest.

Best of luck to the lad, I hope I am wrong and we turn a corner and he proves to be a shock success. But I really worry about the future of MFC now.

I will not blame LC if we fail to stay up. He's barely retired as a player and this is not the right time. The job is hard enough for an established manager/coach/whatever we want to call it, and Gibbo sees fit to go this way?!

Good grief.

What is Gibson’s obsession with former players as managers? I would of thought he would of learnt his lesson after the shambles of appointing Woodgate. If Cattermole is the best man he could find then he’s clearly lost the plot.
How many managers are former players?

Just hope this his bulls**t. I would certainly think about renewing my season ticket for next season if Catterole is appointed the next coach. Gibson needs to get the next appointment correct and fast, we can’t have another Woodgate scenario were we’re fighting relegation and need to bring in an hold head to beat the drop.
We are fighting relegation now! How many relegation battles has Lee Cattermole been in?

It’s not a popular opinion but I think if selected to be our new manager then he will have a good go at it. There are no guarantees and no magic wands with any appointment.

How old was Wilders head? 55? Warnock was a dinosaur at 70.. Bielsa is 67.. Pulis is 64

At what point were we very close to getting out of it?

He took over with us 3 points from safety.
That then became 5 points after his first game, 7 in his 3rd, 9 in his 6th.
Our one win under him against Sunderland left us 6 points from safety with 4 games left.
We picked up 1 point in those 4 games.

Performances were worse than they had been under Karanka.
We scored no more goals than we had before, but conceded more.
We shipped 4 goals against another relegation bound team in Hull.
I totally agree we were never getting out of it - but the rot had already set in by the time Karanka left
He gambled on a sh,I,t or bust change of tack that didn't work

it would be a terrible appointment.. Chris Wilder was the best thing since sliced bread and he couldn’t manage 1 point per game! Why is it ok for Monk, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Peltier, Howe, Parker.. but not Cattermole?

There was a meltdown behind the scenes and we had around £16m transfer budget in January.. even with hindsight. How do we get out of that one?
