It’s all gone very quiet on the Spence front

Feels like a game of poker

As far as I see everyone's a winner if he goes to Spurs, so its likely it will happen.

I guess we all wish we knew what had been offered by Spurs (if anything) so far.

I remember the Pallister transfer to MU took about 6 weeks - all through August 1989. MU paid up in the end and he was a great signing for them. Spence is not quite the same level, but it has similar feel. Young English player better than his current division interests one of the top 6.

We needed another suitor but for all the supposed interest it seems that only Spurs want him. Could be worse I suppose, if none of them had followed up.

The problem was that he said that he only wanted to play for Spurs. Why would other clubs then make an offer. And the reason Spurs think that they have the upper hand in the negotiations.

Perhaps being told no we're not paying that for you will be the best thing for him.
He has to grow up sometime.
He could come back and give us a good season.
You never know.

2.3m was a massive amount back then for a defender. Replaced with Simon Coleman I believe?

Vickers for Kernaghan was a better deal haha

Who did we spend moggas £1m on? Was he replaced in the team by nicky mohan?

I'm not sure you can be certain of that. If other major clubs were interested, he would hear what they have to say and how much they're offering. That's what it nearly always comes down to, whatever else they say.

Keep him. Tell Spurs they missed out! Tell him to get his head in the game, train hard, play hard, or he trains with the youth team and doesn't get near the squad!

An unlikely scenario and I'd rather have the money, but one way or the other it'll get sorted.

The money from Mogga was spent on the geezer who lost his place to him: Derek Whyte for £900k and Chris effing Morris
One of the worst bits of business we ever did.
