Is Rogers any good?

He’s shown flashes of some potential. But he was very poor yesterday. But the same can be said for a few of our players. Too early to be saying he’s the next Chuba but it’s also too early to be writing him off although.

Maybe wide midfield is his best position
I think Rogers is more attack minded than Tavernier.. I’m not saying they are like for like.. but level of talent, development wise.. and done very similar traits.

That ability just to be on the ball..
Tavernier had it and Rogers has it.

Has got the Ashley Fletcher "there's a player in there" vibe about him.
Try looking at him on his own merits rather than looking back at a player that didn’t do well and applying frustration with against Rogers.

Has he got a good first touch. Does he carry the ball well? Yes, does he create for others? Yes

That’s a lot of yess to work with for a 20 year old

Slightly off tangent, but does anyone think Chuba would hit 29 goals in this team?

Too many changes, too many loans. The gamble ultimately didn't work. And then to compound it, Chuba was never going to stay unless we broke our wage structure.

Rogers.......never in a million years a No. 9 but better suited to a No. 10 position. Looks decent ...but playing in a team trying to gel and, well, struggling and not an easy situation to be in.

Judge him later in the season, all we can do.

So far for me (what I've seen) a very inconsistent 5/10.

Hes not a conventional no 10 for me he hasnt got the dribbling or close control of someone like chuba

I think he's going to be a similar type of player as Tomlin. He will have good games where he'll produce moments of magic, but will have games where he'll be ineffective.

Obviously, like a few others he needs to improve on his finishing.

His close and control and dribbling has been excellent, it's his finishing and pace running in behind that's not quite there yet. Also comparing at 20I'm not sure what Chuba's dribbling and control were like.

When did this 'long term plan' start? 2015? or 2009? Or just when Carrick joined?
Probably 2 1/2 years ago when we decided to move to a DoF model and sounded out Kieren Scott for that role.

I guess we're still refining the tactical approach, but the strategy is the same a sustainable club, based on scouting good young players and building value.

We tried to advance it last year with some loans, but the reality is it's probably another 3 year project to get the club where it needs to be. If we get ourselves in with a chance of promotion/play offs, I'm sure we'll make tactical decisions like we did in January spending big wages on Archer and Ramsey, but not at the expense of breaking the strategy of improving our assets.

To be honest I didn’t realise he was so young, only 4 and a bit months older than Coburn. That might change my view of him a little, especially as we have chucked him in at the deep end. We obviously have high hopes for him but to be starting him every game seems a bit weird when we have others who can play as no.10. We really do still need to replace Akpom this week don’t we!

Madness he is starting hopefully someone ready for first team football is brought in this week
If you’re thinking we’re signing someone to replace Akpom this week then I think you need to wake up. There’s no way they’ll be flash money spent this week.
