I didn't suggest you said it I was being hyperbolic given the rest of your statement.

So you entire counter point is 'The squad is better' - based on what?!
Carrick has a pre season - Great but the players you claim that will come in to make the difference haven't been part of it (including Akpom).
And we've got a good recruitment department - I'll agree with you that we've been good at spotting potential the past 18 months.

Remember this thread is not about finishing in the top half, I think everyone agrees that should happen. The thread is to say we will have a poor season compared to Carrick's and the super fans expectations based on what the macro was showing back in June when I started the thread.

You can't even acknowledge I've been 'correct' so far with what has happened. Has Chuba signed?
Has anyone senior that has improved last year's team signed? The season starts a week on Saturday

My points are all valid and rooted in as much fact as yours.

What you are doing is asserting that your opinion is somehow valid because you keep mentioning what a cash and carry told you.

A ball hasn't been kicked and the window closes in September. Last season we have ourselves a 20 point handicap and still come fourth

I've said earlier in the thread that if we're in the same spot in September and we're not picking up points then you can crow - but last time I checked football was played on grass, not in Macro, Costco or B&M.

On top 2 - there is work to be done. I don't think anyone at the club thinks otherwise.

As I've said - if we end the window with this squad and the Chuba situation unresolved, then you can call yourself a soothsayer. I just don't think that will be the case.

Giles not coming is an issue - but he hasn't gone to a rival. Archer and Ramsey both - by all accounts - want to come back. We wait for Villa on that one.
 
I'm confident we'll be in and around the top six again, obviously having a serious crack of going up automatically depends on the incomings/outgoings.
There'll be deals being worked on as we speak, last season's work behind the scenes had given me renewed optimism.

The poor end to last season will be compounded by a poor transfer window and losing our best players (due to them being loans that don't return).

I feel like Chuba will become a sideshow where the story all summer will be will he go here or there and regardless what happens we either won't get the money we want for him until it's too late to allocate wisely or he will stay and have far less impact.

I think it’s important that as you need to define what you mean by your prediction that we will “struggle” next season.

Only 2 teams out of 24 can go up automatically.

At the end of the season we can see how prescient you are then.

It's been stated many times in the thread if you read through it

My belief is 8-12th which would be a struggle given we're aiming for top 2

Jedi, positivity will come back. Last Saturday Carrick put the wrong team on the pitch and in that first 45 minutes it showed. Without a single signing we are much better than that 45 minutes.

We will finish somewhere in the top 6. Whilst we have to replace some very good players the core of the team we started with last season is still here.

Typical fan over reaction on here, which isn't representative of our fan base.

I'm actually more positive than I was when I made this thread Jedi....

My advice to us all this year is to enjoy the games when it clicks, we should be a fun watch.

The point of the thread was that I could see what was coming this season. The good news is I think next season we should be up there.
