I'm going to put my football neck on the line

This is what happens with an over reliance on loan players, Archer, Steffan and Giles certainly won’t be back and would be lucky to get Ramsey as well. It’s a lot of key players to loose in one summer
If only we would learn our lesson, we might actually be able to build a stable squad.

You need to get yourself to B&Q for a cup of concrete to toughen up.

It is 27th of June and very little movement in the transfer market for the majority of clubs.

Take cover boys and girls (and any other pronouns I’ve accidentally missed off), Man the lifeboats 🛟 we have a sensible post alert, if we all pull our shirts over our heads for 5 minutes we can pretend it wasn’t really there.

Well the recruitment team have thrown a spanner in the works by signing players I've no idea existed.

It's got me a bit excited

How we looking guys? I noticed the what's going on with Chuba thread is rather active now (as predicted by my opening post).

Loads of signings but possibly 1 that would be considered a traditional 1st team signing (Dieng).

Outside of a "You can't win anything with kids" esque miracle is it fair to say that so far my opening post looks pretty much spot on?

Panic stations!

Take a chill pill dude.

The main part of your opening post is that we're going to have a poor transfer window and a poor start to the season.

The season is still another 3 weeks away, the transfer window is open for another 7 weeks.

How can you have got anything spot on yet?

We're not even at the point where we can judge any of your predictions.

Funny fella

We are going to be involved in a relegation battle no doubt. The rumours I'm hearing about our transfer budget is scary.

Bryant Bilongo - Loan
Matthew Hoppe - Loan
Martin Payero - Loan
Paddy McNair - £5m
Chuba Akpom - £15m

then we could bring in five loan players..

LB Alvaro Fernandez - Man Utd
RW Amad Diallo - Man Utd
MF Charlie Patino - Arsenal
CB Jarrad Branthwaite - Everton
AM Dele Alli - Everton

or five free agents..

LB Jean-Kévin Duverne - Stade Brestois
ST Josh Maja - Bordeaux
MF Tom Davies - Everton
CB Axel Tuanzebe - Man Utd
AM Ross Barkley - Nice

the french connection.. or the Aaron Danks connection.. with Tuanzebe & Barkley at least.

You are completely gone with the wind Newy but I love ya.

I am doing everything I can to jinx my prediction, I want to be badly wrong so desperately. It's just unfolding so predictably at the moment (outside of the youth signing spree that I loved).

It’s fair to say that you’re spot on, what a poor season we’ve had.

Currently 11th but it’s mad to see Birmingham running away with it and West Brom dead bottom.

No.

It's so frustrating. Worst thing is we haven't even managed a shot on target in the league yet this season.

Sort it out Bausor!!!

And say it...

I think we're going to struggle next season.

I know that we're not back from holiday yet but I can sense the way the wind is blowing.

The poor end to last season will be compounded by a poor transfer window and losing our best players (due to them being loans that don't return).

I feel like Chuba will become a sideshow where the story all summer will be will he go here or there and regardless what happens we either won't get the money we want for him until it's too late to allocate wisely or he will stay and have far less impact.

So there you go, I hope this thread gets hoofed in 9/10 months with many many clown face and laughing emojis. UTB

I don't think I'm as pessimistic as this... But we have had a some ropey starts in past seasons under Wilder and Warnock that have lead to their demise. Both those seasons we had some optimism going in, especially under Wilder, and it didn't go so well. So I'm not getting excited until I have seen us play a few games.

I'm going to do the same as I do every season - I'll judge us in October. Generally get a decent enough feel about where we are headed when we have played a dozen or so games.

This time last season, wonderfully optimistic, things looking good. By October......things had turned to sh*t and there was only one way we were heading - down.

Too many variables at present. Who's staying, whose going. How the new signings gel on the pitch.

The honeymoon is over for Carrick imo, he's shown what he can do so now it's over to him and the coaching staff to get the team at the right end of the table, challenging top 6.

I'm optimistic we will be there/thereabouts......if we nail the three outstanding positions - LB, CM and CF (currently assuming no key players leave.......).

Certainly not the time to start fitting the rubber sheets 👍

3 LB Ryan Giles - £5m - paid for by Paddy McNair transfer fee
replaced by Axel Tuanzebe - Free Agent (known to Carrick and Danks)

5 MF Ardon Jashari - £6m - paid for by Martin Payero transfer fee
and suplimented by the £3.5m left over from this summers dealings

10 ST Cameron Archer - £20m - I mean.. all signs are pointing towards an Akpom transfer to cover this
we did have £11m floating around last summer for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Dieng/Glover

Smith/Dijksteel
Fry/Tuanzebe
Lenihan/Van Den Burg
Giles/Coulson

Hackney/Barlaser
Jashari/Howson

Forss/Jones
Rogers/Gilbert
McGree/Silvera

Archer/Crooks

We're there or thereabouts imo.. we've got options up front.. five loan spots still open and enough wiggle room to change our shape and set up.
Coburn could very well break though this season.. Agyemang too.

We start the season stronger than we did last season.. if we lose Akpom it'll be a bitter pill to swallow.. but Giles, Jashari & Archer may soften the blow,

If we manage to keep Akpom.. then we might need to copper up for the difference.. Martin Payero, Matthew Hoppe.. plus the £3.5m

Terrell Agyemang in the squad.. taking the place of Payero? Flexible enough to cover at right back too.. sounds like an ideal back up for Howson tbh.

looks like were in good shape there tbh..

Steffen for Dieng
Daniels for Glover
McNair for Tuanzebe
Clarke/Hall for Van Den Burg
Giles for Giles permanent
Bola for Coulson
Mowett for Agyemang
Archer for Archer permanent
Muniz for Coburn
Ramsey for Rogers & SIlvera
Walker for Gilbert

no real change apart from Steffen for Dieng
Ramsey was the 2nd half of the season and we've got a few options to try there.
Mowett was injured first half of the season really.
Coburn will contribute more than Muniz

lower the average age, increse the value of the squad and kick on from where we left things last season.
