Ikpeazu

We payed about 650K for him from Wycombe. What were people expecting? Prime Drogba? He’s a bit of a unit brought in to compete with defenders and hopefully contribute to about 10 goals this season and a few assists. He got stuck in, won fouls and held the ball up. We have signed a player suited to how we play. I’m sure we are looking for a first choice striker to come in but I don’t understand any knocking of his first half performance today.

regardless of his fee, he really didn’t play well today, used his strength and had a small bit of success but that was it. The pundits on sky all criticised him and Warnock brought him off for a CM to play up front, that pretty much sums up his day. Think the point people are making here is he really wasn’t as good as some are making out.

By the same logic people on here clearly like Warnock and are praising him when he didn’t really deserve it today.
The same people on here defending the performance would have wanted Pulis or woodgate sacked if he had made those subs or given a performance like that

Why doesn’t Warnock deserve any praise then?

This should be good. 🍿

I disagree with nearly everything you have said since the games finished.

People on here also wanted Warnock sacked when he made those subs. What's your point? That some people talk out of their asre? Already knew that.

Yes it’s only me on here that’s criticised the team today

Only you who has went ridiculously over board with a 1-1 draw away at a really favoured team. I don’t understand it at all and nothing you have said has even convinced me you understand a thing about how the game was played.

I was gonna say that's a bit dramatic :ROFLMAO:

I just don’t get what people expect. If we were to go for it too early and open up I’m convinced we would of got smashed. It wasn’t pretty but it’s a solid point and something to build on. Would be surprised if Fulham drop many more points at Craven Cottage this season.

So cos we’ve paid 650k for we should refrain from giving him a negative opinion of him.

Not at all no, just don’t understand the criticism today. He did exactly what he could in the circumstances and will clearly improve when we have ‘easier’ games. It was comments like ‘ we have signed a striker who won’t score goals’ not many strikers would score shed loads of goals the way we play so it’s about getting a striker who suits the system and if he can chip in with 10 and plenty of assists and good general play it’s a good signing. I seen nothing today to suggest otherwise. Like I say, overboard criticism.

I don't think we saw the best of him playing in a side that carried no attacking threat from MF until Tav Jones came on, unfortunately as he departed l.
The lad put in a good shift. Not the most gifted, but im sure that he can contribute.

I expected a bit more from us going forward over the course of the game. I didn't expect us to outplay Fulham or anything but I thought we'd do a bit more than we did for the first 75 minutes. I expected us to get beat though so I'm buzzing with a point, I just think we will have to perform better if we want to have a go at the playoffs.

As for Ikpeazu, I don't know about others but I'm purely commenting on what I saw today, regardless of what we paid for him I thought he was poor, he gave the ball away more than anyone else on the pitch and he didn't look that good at holding the ball up to me. Now that is only from what I saw today, I don't think we played to his strengths at all while he was on the pitch and I think there is more to come from him, especially at home where we will probably bombard teams with balls into the box.

I can't sit here and say he was good though when I don't think he was, that isn't being negative, it's just what I saw, just like others thought he was good, it's a game of opinions.

We performed how we wanted too, Warnock has come out and said we had a plan that we needed to keep it tight as basically we wouldn’t compete if we had more of a go early on as it suits them more and they have better players. The point we got is not a fluke, it’s because of a tactical decision and a well executed defensive performance after conceding the first goal. We ‘performed’ as we were instructed. No complaints from me because all I care about the result from such a difficult game like that and for me a point is a positive one. I would like to see a different approach next week at home to Bristol City and I’m sure we will. Hopefully we are in the ascendancy, every game is different.

It’s funny cos this board criticised our strikers under karanka for not scoring goals, when we weren’t set up for strikers to be the leagues top scorers.

I would like to look at a striker and think, he’ll at least get 10 for us. Unfortunately he doesn’t look like a striker who will in my opinion.

I think he would if he played the whole season but I think he will maybe demoted to the bench if we can afford someone better and I presume that’s what we are doing. If he is a back up striker/ someone to come in and play the odd game and come on from the bench then happy days it means we have someone better.

The strikers Karanka bought cost millions. This bloke's less than a million. He'll hold the ball up, will be a nuisance, bring others into play, score a few goals and win a few free kicks. He's not Rav or Boksic and I think he'll do even better with a good striker alongside him.
