If Chuba went to Everton?

We don’t want to lose Chuba as he is getting better and better but, looking at how much Everton have payed for dismal players over the years (e.g. Who is Jean-Philippe Gbamin at £22M?) then surely Chuba must be worth £20M+ and he will be on £100,000 a week! We couldn’t begrudge him the move after all his nomadic years.

Promotion is worth more.. then we can pay him £100k a week. He doesn’t deserve to get relegated with Everton then chucked on the scrapheap again.

£20 million is nothing compared to the money made from getting promoted. We need to keepour strikers.

It would be disasterous for him and for Boro.
If you`re in a good place, why jump into the fire at a Premier struggler, with all the politics and problems in the dressing room.
Money isnt everything - as Chuba has proved.
It takes a unique type of Manager to get the best out of some players.

It's not always down to the player, his agent might be touting him out there to see if any prem teams are interested.
Also if he is offered 4x or 5x what he is on now, that will make his head turn and who could blame him.

Yes he loves it at the Boro, enjoying his football and playing with a smile on his face, and I like most people, would rather keep him in our squad than have 20M plus, lets hope its just rumours but there's no smoke without fire.

Chuba's time at Boro has not been cherished by the club, left out in the cold for a long period, so who could blame him if he wanted to explore pastures new with increased monies and financial security. I don't want him to go, but money talks, and he has no real connection to the area but is a definite fans favourite.

Money talks obviously but I would be surprised if anyone was going to offer silly money off the back of a 13 goal spree.

He's found a perfect fit in Carrick and the system suits him perfectly, maybe for the first time in his career.

If he goes to Everton it'll be a new system, a big step up and they're a basket case anyway. I don't think he's the answer for them, I think he'll struggle. We'll have lost our star man, Akpom will probably end up back on the bench and Everton will have wasted even more money.

I honestly think it'd be a lose lose situation other than for Akpom's bank balance and our accounts. In football terms it'd be a terrible move all round.

A terrible move for both parties. I fully understand he will triple (probably more) his salary and a 3-4 year deal that will set him for life. So not 'terrible' and something we would all do.

I just think that club is a bit toxic. It's been on the decline for 10 years or more. They won't even have a manager in a week or so. They have Man Utd in the cup.

It's a weird one for Boro. We would have ordered a taxi and sold him to anyone who gave us our 2mil back in the summer. So it's hard to say throw a 3-4 deal at him based on 4 good months. It's not just his best 4 months for us. It's in his career and he's 27.

I think it's imperative we keep him. He looks happy and a major part in a team that's flying. We've activated the extra year so we do have a little wiggle room to play with. I'm still not convinced we should throw a longterm mega deal at him. Just keep him playing and if the form continues then he will earn it and be offered one.

Obviously Chuba is not going to be poor but if he could say get a 3 Yr contract at 100k per week then I doubt he would be in a position to turn that down as it secures his future finances.
