I think we need to talk about Kevin, sorry Finn Azaz.

It doesn't seem outlandish to suggest he will at least match last year's figures (11G, 10A) since he is playing in a better team.

They're not as clever or as knowledgeable as blokes what post on message boards mate.
Proper footbalingl experts like what we have on here, could tell for instance almost immediately that Rogers and Akpom were crap.

Quite a few of us saw Rogers' ability and potential from his debut and posted so even playing out of position.
A number of those same posters don't think Azaz is what we need in our team.

Rogers is flying in the PL, Azaz in my opinion will never play there.
 
He’s talented, but he’s slow and dawdles on the ball. It’s a large part of why we’re playing at such a slow tempo.

we play at a slow tempo because every team that comes to riverside sits back and wastes time so we have to break down 2 banks of 5
 
It's another poor game from Azaz folk go on like he's brilliant he's not like Gaston Ramirez or even Lee tomlin was like

To break down "2 banks of 5" you need to shift defences about to create gaps. To shift defences about you need to move the ball at a quick tempo and have players who are willing to break lines.

Possession football is different to playing at a slow tempo. We look to lethargic in possession at the moment. We don't do things quick enough to create gaps.

A quote from an Argyle mate of mine. "Azaz is a good championship player but he will never play in the premiership"

Very similar opinion to you. We need good championship players in the squad though I suppose.

Aye, I know a few like yourself did, but there was plenty who absolutely slated him and a lot of them are doing the same with Azaz.
 
The thing with Azaz (and the difference with Rogers) is some people talk about him as if he is unproven at this level. Did last season not count or something when he was generally seen as one of the best midfielders in the division?
 
Not sure I agree with the negativity around azaz.

2 assists in the games, admittedly corners, but an assist is an assist, they all count.

His shooting is also pretty good as it's his passing.

He does do things quite deliberately and seldom plays the ball quickly but I am not convinced that's the issue. We are breaking teams down and we are creating very good chances. We just are not taking them.

If we were creating nothing I might agree but we are very creative. It's not an area of weakness, in my opinion.

Motm against Cardiff, created 5 or 6 chances against Pompey. Targeted by the opposition manager in our last game who recognised rightly most of our attacking play goes through him.
I can understand most people aren't very good at playing football but I'd expect that most people would be able to watch it competently.😂

But people are not interested in stats these days, as their opinion is obviously worth more
