I need to adopt a Rugby Union team in the UK.

Just do what I do and don’t have a club side. In European competition I support all English sides and can watch Premiership games without being too bothered. Just enjoy the rugby.

I like this mate - in fact, listening to talkSport yesterday, they were asking the question to Irish, Scottish and Welsh fans regarding supporting England this weekend and naturally the majority reaction was "absolutely not!".

I didn't quite get that narrative. Should England have failed to get to the Semis and say, Wales and Ireland had, I'd 100% be backing either to win the tournament. The thought of NZ or South Africa winning another World Cup isn't that exciting. It just seems a lot of other nations have this in-bred hatred for England. I watch all levels of rugby, from Stockton RUFC to World Cups - I subscribe to channels to watch the Top 14 (France) and the URC (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, SA) as well as watching Gallagher Premiership games on TNT (BT in old money). 95% of the time you're getting an entertaining game.

Regardless of bias, with rugby I just love watching a great game and I'm a sucker for an underdog story - there was even part of me which wouldn't have minded seeing Fiji progress last Saturday.

I’ll often watch club rugby over football if the teams and players involved are right. Champions Cup games on a Friday or Sunday will usually be watched instead of Sky Super Sunday, for example.

As for the England hatred. I was surprised this week to talk with Scottish colleagues who were supporting England. They would against any team apart from Scotland (obviously). Those two are an outlier though. Every other Scot I know will be a Springbok fan tomorrow.
