I need to adopt a Rugby Union team in the UK.

From Hull Bri? Surely League should be your game, much better than Union. Unfortunately I seemed to take a liking to Leeds back in the day, but have a mate who is a Leigh fan so follow them a bit. Been to watch Wasps when they played at Coventry, free tickets….that’s part of the reason they went t*ts up, most didn’t watch the game, similar at Wembley for Quins v Saracens.

Not keen on Union, enjoy League more, Ull being the team I have a soft spot for and have watched them a few times at the KC/MKM Stadium or whatever its called nowadays. Handy for the station too.

I've never watched rugby union before this world cup but now I am completely hooked so I need to choose a Premier League team in the UK who I can support and get behind.

Are there any Northern teams deserving of support?
Who are the teams to avoid as a casual supporter, I don't want to follow the Man Utd of rugby union with their legion of far flung supporters that never attend a game.
I also don't want to support the equivalent of Chelsea either who waste money and win nothing.

So really, a likeable club with a chance of winning silverware.

Who would you recommend?
Hull and Hull Ionian are in the same division as Teesside's top side, Billingham.

I kind of adopted London Irish on the basis that we went to watch a game there on the weekends around our Wembley Cup final appearances, starting (I think) with the ZDS and the tradition carried on from there.

Fans were always friendly and of course plenty of Guinness tents. In fact, perhaps it's the visits to London Irish and the Guinness that caused Boro's lack of success. A cup final in Cardiff, no black stuff or visit to the rugby beforehand and we win. Something to think about if we ever get to Wembley again. Although the option is there again now that they've moved back into London from Reading.

In terms of fitting the original brief I'd agree with the suggestion of Sale as others have said already.

Just do what I do and don’t have a club side. In European competition I support all English sides and can watch Premiership games without being too bothered. Just enjoy the rugby.

What happened to Middlesbrough? Do they still exist? They were a thriving club when I was young (admittedly a long time ago) and had the likes of Alan Old playing for England.

Just pick a local club . You will be made very welcome and you will enjoy your Saturdays and you can watch the junior sides and players as they progress.

I go up to watch the Falcons 3-4 times a season, normally on a Friday night under the lights. It is a good little atmosphere but my god it is cold where I stand. Price of the ticket is £10 in the open stand but to be honest, I often pay for that stand and then walk round to the undercover stand, it is not exactly locktight security.

I don't associate the Falcons with Newcastle Utd, I have good craic with those around me and where the Falcons are involved there is often a very entertaining game - got the likes of Mateo Carreras and Adam Radwan running crazy lines which gets the crowd going.
Objectively, Falcons tick all OP’s boxes. I’ve always wanted to get into them. But it’s that other word.

Personally I can’t get past it. It doesn’t have to be a NUFC association if the obsession runs deep enough. Any team from up there. I can’t do it. I realised I might have left the bounds of reason though when accidentally flicked to the NRL on sky and found myself delighted that the Newcastle Knights were losing …

I honestly don't get this. Falcons are the only top flight team representing the North East! You're missing out on exciting rugby

Go and support Billingham, they are only about 3 or 4 leagues away from premiership rugby.
Unbelievable for an amateur team who do not pay their players
