Very small country in every sense of the word, and they've punched above their weight for 8 years now.

Their squad is nowhere near as good as some of the big boys, but that's understandable when they've got a fraction of the population.

They've got the smallest population in the whole tournament, with the exception of Qatar, who aren't in on sporting merit, and even that's a close run thing.

I suppose you could argue that it's a deceptive figure given how much the Welsh national team relies on English born players though.

That’s certainly the myth but as they even admitted on that documentary fast tracking English youngsters at ludicrously young ages to take them off England was the key.

They set up a body of scouts in the Welsh FA who scouted prem academies to target young England stars and offer them senior caps look at ampadu given a Welsh senior cap almost before he made his chelsea debut.

It was a bold strategy but as we can see from their current squad it worked
