I am so happy for Sir Gareth

We've called him Sir Gareth on here for a very long time for a reason. All the facebookers (from other locations and helloles (Lancashire) on my timeline who slagged him off are silent tonight when they should be celebrating.
I’ve still got one loud moylithes clown on my face book.

Semi
Final
Quarter
Final

Nothing more needs to be said

In englands ENTIRE World Cup and euros history we’ve won just 18 knockout matches…..Southgate has managed 9 of them! Let that sink in, half of our most important international victories are under southgates management. WTF is wrong with people who think he’s a poor manager? What is wrong with you people?

You’d have to be off the scale stupid to not recognise the success he’s had. Let’s hope he makes it 10 out of 19

2 Euros finals. And a World Cup semi and quarter final.

The man has done a brilliant job as England manager and I absolutely love him as a person, player, manager. An absolute hero.

Go and finish the job now lads. For him more than anything.
Let’s set aside sentiment, yes he’s doing well…but we’ve won nothing yet….what does it say to his first choice 11, that he picked, that we dominated first half YET he subbed his teachers pet ; trippier at half time ?

As someone has mentioned watch Southgate’s post match interview with non-English media.

He explains tactical changes during the game brilliantly. He is calm, measured and empowers the players. A brilliant leader and focal point for the squad.

He was always going to. Trippier is doing a job for him, but everyone knows if shaw was 100% fit he would play ahead of him

Is it on YouTube?

I’ve said this before but the place he took us from to where we are now is extraordinary. We’d never had a more embarrassing, demoralising decade in our history before he took over. Now we’ve never had a better 8 years.
Anyone who undermines what he’s done now is either an idiot or ridiculously biased.

You’re making out he’s done it single handedly, the much bigger factor is that we now have an incredible group of players.

Good point about the players but Southgate has given them the platform and used actual tactics to get the best out of them.

Think back to South Africa in 2010. England were awful with Capello as he stuck to a preconceived idea that English players had to play 4-4-2. That despite English club football not using that tactical system for years.

Capello and Erickson would not have gone 3-5-2 (in Russia). 4-3-3 in London (last Euros), 4-3-3 again in Qatar, or switched from 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-2-1 in Germany.

Over the moon for Gareth.

Performances aside he has pretty much got things spot on. The Toney sub against Slovakia was criticised but he then set up the winner. Last game, people moaned that Trippier started left and Saka right despite going 343, Saka went on to have a great game and score the equaliser from the right.

Its levelled at him that he has his favourites, makes no changes and is a yes man - he left Grealish and Rashford at home and was praised, two games in and people are calling for Grealish saying he should have gone. He took a risk with TAA which at the time a lot of people where in agreement with, he has switched formation mid way through a tournament and despite making his changes later than most would his subs have generally come on and done exactly what they where brought on for - win us games.

I am still seeing that comments that if we win Sunday its despite Southgate. The same people who blame Gareth for the poor performances but will only praise the players if we win Sunday.

I have said it so many times, a large number of fans have been against Southgate since his appointment, he wasn't fashionable and didn't play for a top 4 teams, the arrogance of English fans is ridiculous. Demanding exciting football every game - has it been a great watch, no it has not but nor have many of the games. There are no poor nations in major tournaments, Slovenia did to Portugal what they did to us. France, Italy and Germany have been praised for years for being pragmatic and effective in tournaments but because we have the premier league we should just be brushing teams aside.

I am sick of hearing this easy route nonsense, its not our fault top teams have failed to do what they where expected to do. Switzerland knocked France out of the last euros in the round of 16 for example. Nothing is a given and as somebody has shared on another thread, pre Southgate we only beat the teams we should have beat and lost against the first real test - Germany in 96, group stage exit in 00, Brazil in 02, Portugal in 04 & 06, Germany in 2010, Italy in 2012.

Southgate has take is further than anything i have seen in my life time.

finally this whole world class squad nonsense - rubbish. Our goal keeper and defence are not world class, we do not have a natural defensive midfielder. We do have world class options in attack but you can only play so many of them.

We and Gareth have done bloody brilliant. I hope to god he wins on Spain
