I’m not a proper Boro Fan.

Born in Lancashire.
Never had a Parmo
Never been on a night out in Boro.
Didn’t attend a game until I was 18 but then went to every home game and many away for the next 11 years.
Live in the south now (last 24 years) and mainly get to Southern away games and half a dozen home games a season.
My biggest shame is my Southern born son supports Chelsea.
My younger daughter loves the Boro despite living all her life in Kent.
10 out of 10 right there (y)

Never lived in Boro. Grew up in Northern Ireland but supported the club since I was 5 years old.

Never had a parmo. Never heard of half of the pubs you mentioned.

Try to get over to 3 games a season. Try to watch every other game on TV. Affects my mood when the result doesn't go our way.

No idea if this makes me a true fan but I feel like one.

This. My proudest Dad moment is that despite being born and brought up in Oxfordshire my son is as big a Boro fan as I was at his age! Can't get him to follow Yorkshire rather than Warwickshire at cricket mind

How did you come to support Boro then.
Moved to Whitby when I was 14. Had a few Boro supporting mates and went to first home game at Ayresome Park in 86. As soon as I walked up the steps at the back of the Holgate and emerged to see the pitch and stadium in front of me that was it, it’s a massive cliche but it felt like home, I’ll never forget that image. Absolutely loved it at Ayresome.

Had a season ticket for the first season at The Riverside but got divorced and moved to Leeds for work and soon after to work in London.

I (un)officially announce you as winner of this thread.

Edit: Given our struggles this season my son has taken to announcing after each defeat that he doesn't care, couldn't give a stuff, etc, etc. I recognise this behaviour and understand that his pronouncements actually mean the exact opposite of the words coming out of his gob. 🙂 And the bad news is the older you get the worse those feelings become.

Top thread this, well done to AET.. I don't know how you get points and don't care. Went to my first game in 1970 and never had a season ticket. Still consider myself a fan even though I rarely go to the Riverside now.
Happily I have passed my affliction on to my children and grandchildren.

Inspired by the other post today, I’ve only got 17 priority points.

Never eaten a parmo. Think they look disgusting and no doubt taste disgusting.

Never been in the Bongo, the navvy, the Hairy Lemon, or half the pubs in town.

Am a Southerner by birth.

I don’t particularly hate Sunderland. I’ve got a few mackem mates that I have bit of banter with.

I have climbed Roseberry Topping though.

Guess I should be a Man United fan really.

Ah you the part timer - but the strongest person I know see you Saturday.
