Huddersfield Town Season Cards

Just had a browse at Sunderland's 23/24 prices. A club in the same part of the country as ourselves so a pretty good club to compare prices against. The prices in their North and South stands (including the corners) are £390 for an adult and £48 for an under 16.

£486 for an adult and 2 kids. Excellent prices. Fans of the future getting hooked. More money spent in the concourse/retail store etc etc.

Is it any surprise their home attendance numbers smash ours year after year? They've always made it more affordable for families. We could argue about catchment areas etc but I guarantee with those prices at Boro for the coming season it would be a full season ticket sell out now and there would probably a waiting list.
It definitely works, their attendance has stayed very solid even in their worst days in league one.

Another few bad years for us and we would be back down to 14k with these prices, and it’s no more than the club/Gibson would deserve as well

But we have watched utter ***** for the majority of the last 15 years, and still paid more than the majority of fans in the football league and some premier league sides
Why are we living in the past? Gibson has always backed us to the best of his ability and sometimes it just doesn’t pan out and sometimes it does. Football is a gamble every single season and we don’t know how it will pan out. Results and performance aren’t guaranteed.

Why would you want to compare with others? Especially Huddersfield who are a financial basket case, MFC is a business not a charity it costs what it costs as we saw in another thread.
I think we've established now that no matter what the club charged you would justify it one way or another. Why would I compare our prices to other clubs in our division? Probably because that's how you gauge the going rate for Championship football as I've already explained.

Because you are saying it’s good value when the team are playing well, but we have to pay more than almost every other side in the football league to watch our team despite being awful to watch for years. Which is why for the majority of the last 15 years the club has played in an almost half empty ground

Gibson rips the fans off every season whilst making some terrible decisions on how the clubs run year after year, and people still defend him every single time. It’s bizarre

I completely disagree with you. Gibson doesn’t rip us off, he’s put fortunes into our club. Why don’t we make it £100 per ST because we had a poor season in 2011 and 2019? Stuff the overheads and inflation.

So why does he charge fans more than 95% of other sides in the football league and some premier league sides?

Plenty of other owners put fortunes into their clubs and don’t charge anywhere near that amount

Because £100 for a season ticket would be ridiculous and that's not what anyone is asking for or expecting! Somewhere close to the other clubs in the division would be nice though. Pack the ground out. 30 odd thousand through the gates each week would have huge benefits for the club.

You also can't underestimate the importance of getting young supporters involved to maintain a large fan base in the long term. They are your fans of the future and our kids prices are quite frankly an absolute disgrace.

We're not unfortunately. We're miles off. I've spent the last half hour looking at other clubs ST prices in the Championship for next season. Particularly when you look at attending as a family, ours aren't even close to most of them.
It really depends on individual circumstances - but looking back at your earlier posts you’ve not priced against GRFZ. If the fact they have sold out is the issue, then it’s different to the clubs prices being too high.

We’re very comparable on cheapest adult ST, we’re also very good on concessions. What we’re not good on is walk up and the fact our cheapest family area is sold out

We have a huge proportion of our ST holders are young concessions

I've largely given up on the argument now, because plenty are happy to defend the club to the hilt on the matter regardless of what happens.

But let's not forget that unless it's Norwich, if we're not promoted this season then whoever gets there ahead of us is doing so with cheaper adult prices than we are, and a smaller budget.

On the current play-off teams, if Millwall, Luton or Blackburn went up, they've done so with cheaper prices.
Luton and Millwall have southern prices to contend with too.

Burnley and Sheffield United (probably) have went up automatically with cheaper prices, though Burnley's budget will have been bigger.

I’m a south stand ST holder, have you seen the amount of youngsters in the stands these days?

The fact that area of the ground is sold out tells you everything you need to know. Most of these other clubs aren't limiting their affordable kids prices to one section of the ground. They're available all over the stadium.
