Huddersfield Town Season Cards

Just noticed that Over 30 and Under 30 prices what an odd policy

Is your average Rugby League supporter over the age of 30 then?

Under 16's £109. Under 11's £49!! Wow, it cost me £70 for myself and my 2 kids (both under 11) to go and watch us play Burnley recently. Outstanding prices well done Huddersfield.

It makes me laugh when the same people come on defending our pricing policy. Claiming that as crowds have picked up the club have got the pricing spot on. It's utter nonsense, we are playing some of the best football I've seen in years and yet the early bird deadline has gone and there's about 10 thousand empty seats for home fans. If they were priced as they should be we could have a season ticket waiting list. Such is the feelgood factor at the moment. But no, despite a crippling cost of living crisis we put the prices up and yet again make new applicants pay significantly more than existing. I just don't understand it.

There won't be 10 000 tickets left for home fans at the Riverside

Our junior pricing is a disgrace. GRFZ was a good initiative but it's still crazy that the club are expecting 14/15 year olds to pay £187 for a season ticket. At that age they're not going to want to buy a season card to sit in the GRFZ with their parents, they're going to want to go with their mates, so why not make it affordable for them?

Instead of just having the one U18 price, why not try a model along these lines....

- £187 for an U18 and offer a 10% discount for students.

- £60 for an U16.

- Keep the GRFZ open and charge £480 for an adult and an U14.

There is at the minute after the early bird deadline? If prices were more affordable we would have sold far more at this stage IMO.
You are not counting in hospitality - over 1000 seats season that don't appear on the list. Obviously 2000 away fans. Add in segregation. Also areas purposely set aside for match by match sales, there are extra blocks for family tickets. And of course you have different categories of tickets that are not open to all age groups or specific to stands.
What I am saying is there weren't an extra 10 000 season tickets on offer and probably nothing like it.

The club can’t win really. If it didn’t increase prices, given the cost of running the club, it would mean more debt. It is a fine balance. I think it is good value to watch a team challenging in the championship. However, the cost per game rises if we are in the PL as there are 4 games less, coupled with a likelihood of watching a struggling team to start with, so arguably less entertainment value if promotion is won.

I think walk ups are the biggest issue, but the club has embarked on its current strategy, if walk ups were much cheaper, would that mean less SC sales upfront? Gibson will have looked and considered options, but this way he seems to be getting the punters in to support his business model. It is a lot for the area when you consider some others, but it is what it is.

You obviously know a lot more about that side of things than I do. Lets keep this simple then, we've sold somewhere in the region of 20 thousand season tickets at the cheapest prices. My point is that given the buzz around the club at the minute. We could have sold many more at this stage. There's one reason why we haven't... the prices, nothing else. My 10,000 figure might we out by however many but there's still plenty left, that's my point.

I could be slightly mistaken but I’m pretty sure the club make 23-24000 season tickets available for sale, come august this will be close to selling out, is the pricing structure really wrong? I don’t think so.

You see it from the club's perspective. How to maximise revenue and squeeze as much out of supporters as possible. I see it from a supporters perspective and compare our prices to other clubs in the division. What are we the 2nd highest? Despite it probably being the most deprived area out of all the teams in the league. Even the mackems are shocked at our prices!

Forget other teams for a second, do you believe £480 for 23/19 football matches is that bad? We have seen some really great stuff this season and it’s a small price to pay. Breakdown is £20.87/£25.26 depending what league we are in.

I'm not a current season ticket holder. So the figure you've quoted me isn't what I would pay. I priced it up for myself and 2 under 10's. It's just shy of a grand at early bird prices. Would be over a grand now no doubt. So yes to answer your question it is far too expensive in my opinion. This is in the cheapest areas of the ground by the way. Would be more expensive in other areas. Huddersfield would cost £347 for the 3 of us. Why would you not compare it to other clubs? Surely that's how you gauge the going rate for Championship football?

What it means ultimately is that the football club isn't realistically an option for everyone. I'm not a big fan of that, especially as the club floats themselves as a community club.

You're literally just making things up.

I agree it wont be an option for everyone, just like any other form of entertainment, some are out of reach to many people. There are methods that can be used to get interest free credit and spread the cost out, such as via 0% credit card purchases, but i accept not everyone can do so using them either.

The community club angle is absolutely fair enough imho, given all the charitable work they do within the area, they do lots for non paying customers in the community, some of which may not even be football supporters let alone Boro fans.

Just had a browse at Sunderland's 23/24 prices. A club in the same part of the country as ourselves so a pretty good club to compare prices against. The prices in their North and South stands (including the corners) are £390 for an adult and £48 for an under 16.

£486 for an adult and 2 kids. Excellent prices. Fans of the future getting hooked. More money spent in the concourse/retail store etc etc.

Is it any surprise their home attendance numbers smash ours year after year? They've always made it more affordable for families. We could argue about catchment areas etc but I guarantee with those prices at Boro for the coming season it would be a full season ticket sell out now and there would probably a waiting list.

I'd be interested to know how much money the club actually put into the MFC Foundation themselves.
