How much do we get for latte lath in the summer

He’s not a 20+ goal striker though, he’s literally never hit 20 in a season. He has 53 goals in nearly 200 games in his career mostly playing for a bunch of nothing teams and even then was barely scoring.

I like him, he works hard, he’s in great form, and I hope it continues next season. But he’s nowhere near a £20-30m player, no club in world football is paying anywhere close to that. It’s not like he’s some young player with potential having a breakout season. He’s 25, and this is his first season scoring more than 15 goals.

As I say, I like him, I hope he stays and keeps it going next season, but people are suddenly going on like we’ve got a young (Brazilian) Ronaldo on our hands and talking silly numbers.
He hasn't but, few players are scoring 20+ before they turn 23 at any level. He was playing a lot as a winger, until last season. Last season his goal record at a level thats bottom half champo top half league one, with two teams that are top champo, showed that he had goals. His goals per minute would have equated to a 20+ striker, but he had niggles. This season, he has shown against the best champo teams that he can score, 4x Leeds, 2x Hull, Ipswich, Norwich, West Brom have all conceded to him. He clearly has the potential to acheive that 20+ striker role, and the figures show it's probably just a matter of time, and luck with injuries.

It's fair to say this current form isn't a one off, he got 14 goals in 21 starts at St Gallen. People are dismissing the Swiss league as a pub league........yet a massive part of our history is squeezing past Basel in the UEFA Cup. It's not a football back water, it's a decent standard, with 3 or 4 teams that would be right at the top of this division. He was third top scorer in the swiss league despite missing part of the season, they only play 33-36 league games, so not that many people score 20.

I don't think he's worth £20-30 million but that's what we should ask for if anyone enquires about him. I think as a club we need to me more hard nosed when it comes to what we're prepared to sell players for. You look at the situation with Rogers, it's been a bit galling to read and hear recently in lots of different places what an absolute bargain he's been for Villa.
ELL even at 25 has the potential to get a lot better, his development this season in just a few months has been clear to see
The transfer market is insane, unfortunately we can't afford to be reasonable.
I’m not saying we should be reasonable. I’ve always thought we were soft and too easy in the transfer market, and I agree RE: Rogers.

That said, I’d be amazed if even the club valued him anywhere close to £20-30m, never mind anyone else.

I get the feeling a lot of those on this thread saying LL isn't worth £20m+ are going to be shocked when bids actually come in. He might be in a rich vein of form right now, but he has all the attributes that a modern striker needs and they won't go unnoticed by scouts within the top clubs. He's still raw, but the education he'll get in English football and the additional space that defenders will allow will only see him get better and better in my opinion. If he can remain fit for the majority of the season then he'll deliver in spades.

Exactly this.

And it'll have been exactly those qualities that convinced us to sign him. His goalscoring wasn't guaranteed but it's not come out of the blue either.

He's always had all the attributes. We've made a balanced gamble that those attributes would result in goals.

I got the impression at the time from some articles that Napoli weren't exactly desperate to sell, but he was of an age where he probably needed to move on if he wasn't getting first team football there.
