How many points has Lumley cost us

It was poor from tav, but it still doesn’t excuse him not saving a shot at his near post
Will just have to agree to disagree.

I genuinely think there is absolutely no blame for the first goal today, near post or not.

Dear me.

I don't even think it was poor from Tav. He got back to defend and the player read what he was going to do and dumped him out of the way, the lay off was perfect and the strike was unstoppable. Of course if you have an issue with our keeper you will sit and watch that and see he is beaten at his near post but short of actually standing right next to the post (which is categorically not the right position for the keeper to take) pretty much any keeper in this division and most of those in the division above would be beaten by that shot.

It was simply good play from Bristol. That is the Championship. Elsewhere Huddersfield beat Fulham at home and Reading beat PNE at Deepdale. This stuff happens in this division. Great isn't it?

No point going on about it from now until May. The window is closed and from what I've seen of Daniels he's no better.

So what do we do? Don't say Sol Brynn as untried and clearly the goal keeping coaches know better.

Just back him. I imagine he reads this site everyday and sees a post about how cr*p he is. He's the No1 and that ain't changing.

he really is dreadfull for a professional goalkeeper, but we are stuck with him till end of season, very confident he will be replaced in the summer
Suggesting he's dreadful is a huge overreaction isn't it?

He's a steady championship keeper, but for his tendancy is drop a clanger.

He'll obviously be replaced I think, it's one of a few areas that need to be strengthened.

We so need more attacking threat from the left side of the pitch and a striker or two that actually score goals more frequently than the current ones
[/QUOTE]
not really no,,he is dreadfull,do you think otherwise?

You do realise we can blame the keeper for not making a simple save, but also acknowledge we missed too many chances?
Yes of course. But there was no simple save. Saving either of those would have been a brilliant save. Really, really top drawer. But would it have been a really top drawer finish to score about three if those chances today?

No, it wouldn't. They were regular chances that any striker in the pro game should gave scored more often than not.

So the problem is the strikers.

Wilder is playing a guy loaned from Brighton who misses when it's easier to score ON A REGULAR BASIS. He's on loan because Brighton don't want him because he's crap at finishing. No other team wanted him because he's crap and breaks club rules every week. Luton sent him back from loan because they couldn't keep him out of nightclubs.

If this season is just a dress rehearsal for next season then learn the lessons and send him back. If there's an intent to get into the playoffs then send him back and play Coburn.

Either way, just learn the lesson. MFC is not an rehabilitation institute for footballers that have lost their way, it's a club with fans that deserves much better than a guy who clearly couldn't care less.

Watch it again, it was right at him and not even in the top corner. Any keeper at this level has to be saving that

Are you really comparing Connolly to Coburn? Connolly has played 50 games in the premier league. He was fantastic last week, more than enough potential to be starting in this side. Talking about off field issues from 4 years ago is just pathetic, especially when he then went on to be a regular for Brighton.

Brilliant to see we are writing him off as a player who couldnt care less because he missed a few chances today, completely normal reaction to one defeat. Get a grip

He's an average champo keeper. He's no worse or better than most have. He's part of a decent side.

He's cost nothing and both keepers brought in for buttons by a former manager. You get what you pay for. The keepers we have are champo No2s. We need to buy an actual 1st choice keeper. Yet they cost.... Remember FFP.

I think we will go for a new keeper in the summer. Yet nothing we can do now. I remember Daniels getting hammered on here.

The finishing cost us as mutch today. It also did away at Hull when Lumley got hammered. We should have been out of sight but for Sporar.

Considering the lad has made enough mistakes on his own it’s probably a bad idea to start threads using him as a scapegoat when it’s not his fault .
He may as well do a roofie thread & start a Lumley before each game

I dont rate the lad at all, I'll support him because hes the No1 choice but to criticise him because we lost when others let him down, dear me

No, it's not a normal reaction to a defeat. He may have played 50 Prem League games, but he only scored 5 goals. At least two of those couldn't have been missed. He's a walking disciplinary problem. Every Brighton fan knew that, but Boro signed him anyway.

Fantastic last week? Really? That shot he hit looked like it was going out of the stadium over the corner flag before it hit the defender and went in. Apart from that he's missed every chance he's been given - and he hasn't created anything.

He should be written off because he's not the answer to any problem Boro are facing, just a load more problems that aren't needed.

I really don’t understand how anyone could view that performance from Connolly as ‘fantastic’. I think he is very limited and don’t expect to see many goals from him.

I think we have a fairly poor keeper and we lack a decisive finisher.

Jones has a great deal of quality but we didn’t get the ball to him often enough today and teams will of course work that out.

I really hope we make the playoffs but I think many people have been getting carried away.

As a little side note: Burnley’s first goal is exactly like Bristol’s first. Don’t hear many slating Brighton keeper and just said on MOTD it was a clinical finish.

Lumley may be limited, but not a chance with either today.

Connolly is poor. Sticking with him will cost us.
Lumley does not make routine saves let alone crackers. On target is often good enough to beat him and he simply can’t get down low.
It is our defence and shield that is protecting Lumley and keeping the goals conceded down.

He won’t start when Sporar is fit, but it would be harsh to drop him after his derby performance

Why are their comments about the keeper being beaten on his near post - surely that only applies when the forward is wide of the goal and the keeper should be standing on the post? Disappointing we got beat but I don’t see either goal as an error by Lumley!

Again the first goal goes virtually straight through him - he has he reactions of a sloth.
The second he dives late and slowly. He simply can't get down.

Connolly's header over the bar was really poor.

The first goal was his near post, you would expect a keeper to save that. Really poor once again.

We must be looking at least 10 points he has cost us already, possibly more. Certainly more to come
Maddo didn’t
Blame him
