How long should Warnock get next season?

Some people think Warnock is great, good for them. I dont ive never rated him, the way his teams don't play football, or his arrogant know it all crap. Hes got promoted a few times in the lower leagues but always failed or walked when hes got to the top division. He’s been here for a season and a quarter there abouts and ive said it before, say it again he did a great job keeping us up but thats all hes good for and weve started going backwards and will continue to do so with him in charge.

Full season, stabilise and put the brakes back on like Mogga, then get in a young coach with fresh ideas who knows how to set sides up to go up in the post Nuno and co-Championship. Maybe even have a playoff push to see off Warny in style!

Not one person wanting a new manager has come up with a realistic name. Warnock has the best credentials of anyone. I have been critical of Gibsons handling of recruitment and managerial choices since 2006. Gibson has pumped fortunes into the club and still is. We have a club still because of him and we should be mindful of that. I am extremely grateful to him and remain so, However, the reason we are where we are and he is pumping millions in, is because of past mistakes under his control as well as those mistakes out on the pitch.

The manager tells the recruitment people the attributes he wants in the player positions he seeks to fill. The recruitment team put names forward as well as the manager himself and the manager and others have their say until targets are honed in on collectively. The manager does not negotiate and attempt to complete the deals, that is Bausor and Gibsons area as I see it. If they can’t afford the packages we move to player B, C even D. In some cases the manager may end up with players of lesser ability than he hoped for, but has to do get on with the job. It is down to economics off the field as much as it is down to the manager getting the best out of his squad on it. Managers carry a bigger responsibility despite some of the players coming in being less than ideal for how they want their team to perform, people should remember that. Recruitment will be mega tough and we can not overspend to risk the club itself. Promotion is a hope not a right.

Warnock is a proud man and will give his best as will his team of coaches. If it is not enough, he will leave when it is in the best interest of the club and himself. I suspect this will be his last season in any event. We should all be grateful we can get back into the Riverside and cheer the lads on, hope springing eternal, lets not start a season on anyones backs and enjoy the fact we have a team to cheer on.
Given the circumstances of the pandemic and lack of funds and lack of forwards at the club this next season will undoubtedly be the hardest to get promotion because all the better forwards out there will be waiting til the last minute or beyond to get that better deal which doesn’t bode well for us
Unless Warnock can make a case for us with a couple of players

I’d line up Alex Neil for season 2022/23

Time isn't on his side. Barnsley were 21st last season and were 21st with 3 points from 6 games when Ismael took over last October. They're 5th on 70 points 40 games later. Barnsley overtook us before the end of December. That's significant progress.

And he's a big handsome/terrifying b***r as well. I like him .............

I know it isn't popular but if Warnock doesn't last half the season (feel fans will be quick to make their feelings known if we're average, despite Warnock's comments about being so excited to have us back) I'd love to see JFH given a shot. I know it's not likely though, but given the choices we'll be left with once he moves on, suppose we can do a lot worse. Love Jimmy and would like to see him succeed at a higher level than he is currently, it'd be great if it happened with us.

Once Warnock goes I hope a better system in recruitment, etc is left in place for the next guy.

For what it's worth I don't think we'll really pick up where we left off and not much will be different. If top-six is looking out of reach by Christmas I doubt Gibbo will move, but I'd imagine Warnock will definitely be retiring once the season's through.

I've said it on some other threads also but I would like to see an ongoing collaboration between Steve Gibson and Neil Warnock. ie a Director of Football, Ambassador or consultant type of roll.

It seems to me that some of the managerial appointments and some of the player recruitment in the past have been ill informed - having an old head who knows the game inside and out in the decision making process, as well as recruitment policy etc is a neccessity.

Yeah That’ll be because gibbo and his crony bauser fails Warnock in getting the money together to be able to allow the kind of players to sign and allow Warnock to do his job properly
No pressure bauser boy
How was he not backed by Gibson last season. How many players did we bring in. Admittedly some on loan but will have been on decent money.
He probably has earned another season but my worry is it's a bit short sighted to build knowing we will likely have a new manager the following year.

We have a football team and club because of steve gibson.

i'm thankful that neil saved us in 2019/20 season using his experience and skills to weld results together to get us out of a pickle.

2020/21 season we finished 10th in the championship - Middlesbrough FC finished 10th !!

all the other issues around injuries, covid, no fans etc etc etc apply to every other team in the division and are not an excuse - he was fortunate there was no fans in the ground - satda would have been the last straw, a blood bath. - this season has been a disaster.

Mogga was correct when he said after the Blackburn game "It all depends on where you think Middlesbrough FC should be"

as i said in my first post on tis thread, Gibbo wont break his deal with him, so his our manager, i back him. simple as that.
He should get all of next season. No point even suggesting anything else.
