How long should Warnock get next season?

Lets be honest the last couple of months have been dreadful, if we start the season in a similar vein of form then we'll have a number of fans calling for a change.

He did a great job to keep us up last season and the first half of this season wasn't bad but since the New Year its been really poor. If the aim is to just survive in this league then he's the perfect manager but surely we should be aiming higher than just surviving?

If we are up and around the playoffs then I think he'll be given time by the majority, but if we are sat in midtable and stinking the place out then how long will you give him?

i wouldnt have him here next season - i'd give him his contract money and send him, Kev and Ron down the road.

i dont think Steve Gibson will, so i will back him through-out his last season with us and see where we are.

if he starts the season, then theres little point in firing him through the season.

MASSIVE YAWN
So many hypotheticals in that all it’s worth is 🥱

Given his talk in the last third of the season I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk by November if things are not going his way.
Yeah That’ll be because gibbo and his crony bauser fails Warnock in getting the money together to be able to allow the kind of players to sign and allow Warnock to do his job properly
No pressure bauser boy

We do have some fans that need to re-evaluate how football works. You lot above, tell me instead of kicking a man who has done nothing but improve our standing in the league in the back drop of relegation, a pandemic, no crowds at grounds and little money to spend coupled with a huge wage bill and players downing tools because their contracts were ending, what more could he have done? Refereeing decisions and player errors on the field cost us significantly.

Who is better placed to replace him in your expert eyes, and why?

Amen to that brother.

He gets the whole season. Unless we are well off it in, say, March time and it is clear we aren't going up or down. The aim is promotion so if we are in the top six or just below it he will be completely fine. The last third of the season was awful but the overall trajectory under Warnock is upwards. For me the big issue is around what sort of players we are going to recruit - if we are planning properly then we will be recruiting with one eye on what sort of manager comes next. A similar version of Warnock and it all makes sense. The next big coach out of the reserve leagues, or Germany, or Jonny Howson, and we are back to square one.

But Warnock has earned another season, IMO.

I'd keep him for the whole season unless we look like getting relegated.

I'm no fan but who's out there?, Better the devil you know, give him the whole season , as said I'm no fan but at least he won't take us down 🙏

You should put your money in then, to be critical of Gibson for failing to provide financial support to a manager is disrespectful and a joke, he supports his managers, if anything he could be criticized for over supporting them.

He has supported NW even within the current financial climate and kept the club afloat but I've seen nothing that gives me confidence that NW will be spending what he gets wisely.

Not one person wanting a new manager has come up with a realistic name. Warnock has the best credentials of anyone. I have been critical of Gibsons handling of recruitment and managerial choices since 2006. Gibson has pumped fortunes into the club and still is. We have a club still because of him and we should be mindful of that. I am extremely grateful to him and remain so, However, the reason we are where we are and he is pumping millions in, is because of past mistakes under his control as well as those mistakes out on the pitch.

The manager tells the recruitment people the attributes he wants in the player positions he seeks to fill. The recruitment team put names forward as well as the manager himself and the manager and others have their say until targets are honed in on collectively. The manager does not negotiate and attempt to complete the deals, that is Bausor and Gibsons area as I see it. If they can’t afford the packages we move to player B, C even D. In some cases the manager may end up with players of lesser ability than he hoped for, but has to do get on with the job. It is down to economics off the field as much as it is down to the manager getting the best out of his squad on it. Managers carry a bigger responsibility despite some of the players coming in being less than ideal for how they want their team to perform, people should remember that. Recruitment will be mega tough and we can not overspend to risk the club itself. Promotion is a hope not a right.

Warnock is a proud man and will give his best as will his team of coaches. If it is not enough, he will leave when it is in the best interest of the club and himself. I suspect this will be his last season in any event. We should all be grateful we can get back into the Riverside and cheer the lads on, hope springing eternal, lets not start a season on anyones backs and enjoy the fact we have a team to cheer on.
