How important to you is radio in your life?

Thought Marc Riley might be your cup of tea? Or the aycliffe punk show?
I don't mind Riley but I'm mostly out of the habit of listening to the radio now.

I had 6 Music on in the car by chance going into town the other day and if I could I'd have ripped the radio out of the car & threw it of the window. A 56 year old DJ trying sound like she's half that age talking about the latest "banging" tune that has just "dropped" being great whilst in reality it was complete dross. She'd send a glass eye to sleep.

Never heard Ayecliffe punk show, wouldn't even know where to find it. I'd imagine a lot of what they play isn't my idea of punk!

I guess I'm getting old :)

Have to confess I listen to Talksport but can’t stand Jim White from 10.00 to 1300 because of his grovelling . I actually enjoy Alan Brazil and like Ali McCoist .
Listening to a bit of Smooth of late ( Xmas jingles )

When I was a kid in the early seventies my parents bought me a little electronics kit.

One of the things you could build was a crystal radio that just had enough power to use the earpiece that came with it.

I used to lay in bed at night listening to what I think was Radio 4 (could have been the world service) & I have been hooked ever since. Still listen every night.

Radio 4 and 5.i love "up all night" on radio 5. Sometimes I'll listen to Zetland FM when I'm driving into work. Still think it's amazing that I can be in a car in New York and New listening to live radio from back home.

I'd echo that, I used to drive to San Jose twice a week with BBC 6 Music on the way there and BBC London on the way back - absolutely amazing to think that we can do that, especially when I was growing up you couldn't even get TFM past Thirsk.

Mark Ann Hobbs certainly is a divisive figure - I personally don't mind her

Listen to Chris Moyles on radio x every day.

Other than that and the odd Chris country I can do without. I'm a Spotify/ album guy mainly

Have listened to it every day since lockdown, what with working from home. Talksport is my choice, I know many dislike it and probably for good reasons, but it was nice to hear people talking about something that wasn't covid related, and it's been with me ever since!

Pre-covid though, you couldn't beat driving home after work, during the winter months, with a bit of smooth playing.

The covid chat did get a bit heavy at times on radio 5 up all night. That said, people calling in obviously treasure the support that this service offers
