How do we spend this Chuba money then?

From what we were told last season. We will receive a first payment £3-4m and we will try to balance that payment with spending a similar amount in the same month. We attempt to match the instalments incoming and outgoing as much as we can through contracts and seasons.

Don't get your hopes up that we'll go and blow it all on Archer.
At the end of the season I thought we'd have been all over trying to Giles, Archer and Ramsey back, the reality is a bit different now. Rather than trying to go the extra step this season we look to be rebuilding yet again.
Even if we splashed all the Chuba fee on someone it's nearly impossible to replace him for that amount.
Unless we pull out some outstanding loans then I can't see anything other than mid-table for us this year.

In the last set of accounts, our wages were 108% of our income.

The Chuba money (and the Tav & Spence money) is already spent going towards covering wages for the existing squad.
Zach Steffen vs Seny Dieng
Joe Lumley vs Tom Glover
Luke Daniels vs Jamie Jones
Darnel Fisher vs Terrell Agyemang
Grant Hall vs Rav Van Den Burg
Ryan Giles vs Lukas Engel
Marc Bola vs Hayden Coulson
Aaron Ramsey vs Sammy Silvera
Chuba Akpom vs Morgan Rogers
Cameron Archer vs Emmanuel Latte Laff
Matthew Hoppe vs Alex Gilbert
Alex Mowett vs Martin Payero.. now this is where I think we might be paying a little bit over the odds
also:
Paddy McNair is out of contract in the summer
and
Josh Coburn is rumoured to be getting loaned out.
maybe
Anfernee Dijksteel will move on..

the bulk of the squad has been trimmed down considerably wage wise and with transfer fees invested wisely.

Martin Payero - Midfielder £25k
Paddy McNair - Defender £20k
Josh Coburn - Striker: £7.5k
Anfernee Dijksteel - Right Back £6.5k

Nearly £60k a week between the four? (figures pulled from a google search)
loan fees, transfer fees etc.. bringing in four free agents or loan players on £15k a week reduces the overall bill and hopefully improves the quality of the squad.

Lewis O'Brien rumoured to be on £15k a week
Bashir Humphreys of Chelsea rumoured to be on £4.5k a week
Cameron Archer rumoured to be on £20k a week.. £25k and we're still in budget to pull in a £15k a week right back

Reggie Cannon is a free agent and would be on similar wages to Dijksteel..

How did we spend the Spence money, or the Tav money?
We plugged the debt with it didn't we and paid for signings and wages of those signings.
We had higher crowds last season than projected and healthy season ticket sales so that puts us in a stronger position. But like most clubs in the EFL without parachute payments you are having to sell especially if you want to pay out a wage level to complete near the top - that is how I have been told it.

From what we were told last season. We will receive a first payment £3-4m and we will try to balance that payment with spending a similar amount in the same month. We attempt to match the instalments incoming and outgoing as much as we can through contracts and seasons.
So theoretically we could spend the full fee as long as the payments for any player we spend it on are structured the same way the Chuba payments from Ajax are. Or if on multiple players it roughly averages as much. Also taking into account any other incomings and outgoings such as Engel, Lath, Tav and Spence.

Complicated.

I wonder whether it's a coincidence that we've signed Engel and Lath, around the same time that we've sold Chuba.

Makes me wonder whether the club decided to commit to those deals, knowing that the fees could be covered from the fee that we would receive for Chuba.

After we had sold Tav last summer, we signed Clarke and Hoppe on permanent deals, and brought in Mowatt and Muniz on loan. We then brought Archer and Ramsey in on loan in January.

I have a feeling we'll go with a similar strategy. Sign one more on a permanent deal, two on loan and then we'll see what becomes available in January.
