How annoyingly good was Sam Morsy yesterday

Be thankful they didn't have the other midfielder we didn't fancy aswell. Suspended today, Luongo is otherwise a nailed on starter for them.

Can’t say he stood out. Wouldn’t have noticed him had he not been an ex player. Did alright but wouldn’t say he bossed the game in anyway. Didn’t really need to as we were poor all over the park.

Was poor when here but was popular at Wigan and Ipswich so must have something about him.

Just didn’t work out for him here I guess. Should have been booked as usual.

You could probably making a really good starting 11 of players that didn't get a good opportunity with us or didn't play well enough

Jason Steel ,Patrick roberts, Morsy, Harrison any others?
Fair enough Harrison, but Steele played 131 times for us, Roberts played 19 in half a season loan, morsy played 30 in his 1 season. More than enough opportunity. Problem was style of play and manager comparability at the time

I’d also say he had a couple of effective dribbles, but generally was average other than that. I don’t count his dark arts as good play, he chopped down half our team but only got a booking for a nothing foul at the end.

He totally won that midfield. I think he'd be great under Carrick in that centre 2 partnership. Sometimes players are just at the right club at the wrong time and I think that probably happened to Morsy at Boro. He was put into a team that didn't suit him.

Yeh good point. Wrong time wrong place sort of thing. Just pondering on it, Jason Steel is playing in the europa league, Patrick roberts looks a lot better at slumberland, albeit they are roughly the same standard we are, Harrison became amazing at Leeds but may have made the wrong decision going to everton.

I wonder which player/players currently on the books will come good at another club, same level? The consensus here seems to be that it's down to the player to take their chance, rather than the management's responsibility to spot potential.

Must have missed that. Should have been booked in first few minutes when ploughing into Rogers.

Then the rake down Crooks’ calf which didn’t even warrant a free kick 🤔

Good to hear he picked up his obligatory yellow though.
