Have you ever caught the ball during a game?

Away at Leicester back in the nineties.
Filbert Street - lost 1-0, Heskey.
I was busy reading a fanzine during the game and the ball kind of smashed into my pages to wake me up

Me poor Mam nearly got hit by a stray ball at the David Armstrong testimonials at Ayresome.

Amazing how rare it happens!!!

Lad in the North Stand made a cracking header to a rogue ball just a few days ago against Ipswich.
Wonder if he posts on here?

Aston Villa away between Christmas and New year when away end was behind goal, caught a very rare item - a Mark Wilson shot. Game was naff and we lost 1-0 but sadly I still feel proud about the fact I caught the ball:ROFLMAO:

Headed it once and got my hands in it a load if times. Well the warm up balls anyway. Back in the early Riverside days I used to stand behind the North stand goal watching the players warm up. Hignett hit a strike that went wide and I headed it. Almost knocked me out. Was only about 12 years old

At Sheffield Utd (FA Cup i think) Stewart Downing hit a shot in the warm up and it would have hit me in the face if i hadn’t put my hands up to stop it - it hurt my hands 😵‍💫

Sat in north row 10 just behind the goal for about 15 years never came anywhere near me..

Move to west upper and with in months a clearance came right to me… eyes 👀 wide twinkling ⭐️ arms stretched out ready to catch , wide smile and a happy warm glow filling my belly …

Only for my fat headed mate , who was only there on another lads ticket as he was at work to power forward and head it before it landed in my grasp!!! Was wounded…

I was also a ball boy when we beat Brighton and Hove Albion at ayresome, 4-1 I think it was , shaven hatrick. Was sat behind the goal at holgate end and didn’t get to touch it then either

in the Holgate and Johnny Hendrie blasted a shot that just cleared the bar, I put my hand up to thump the ball. Fortunately, I only made a slight contact, otherwise I might have lost my hand…

I've not caught a ball but I've touched one twice in different games and both times bizarrely were away at Grimsby!!

I was at a Darlo game with my Brother(one of the few football games he’s been to) and the ball just avoided us both in the stand..

Chucked it back to some lad in a black and white shirt…

I stood on the Chicken Run for my first ever game against Darlington in March or April of 87, after about an hour the ball got kicked out of play near us, and a bloke near us returned the ball with a perfect flying scissor kick. It was easily the most entertaining thing that happened all game!

Colin Cooper blasted the ball against my chest when I was stood at the side of the pitch during a warm up, I wasn’t watching I was chatting so it caught me by surprise. He apologised .

Used to sit down the front row of the east (where the GNR is now). I can't remember who we were playing but the ball got hoofed up into the air, came back down right where we were. Cue the three of us sprinting away from it, we were about 10 at the time.
Threw it back to Ince who was ******* himself laughing, as was Southgate.
