Harry Kane life after football

He tried to leave spurs 2 years ago but levy wouldn’t honour his gentleman’s agreement with him. I hope he lets his contract run down and leaves levy with fook all for him for being a bell end about it all, 30 league goals scored in that shower of a team.

To be fair he’s mentioned this a few times over the years, he might actually do it.

Would be really interesting to see if the skills would translate. I know there’s been baseball and rugby / Aussie rules players who’ve managed high levels in the NFL, and pretty much every NBA player could have been an American football player but chose hoops because more money + less head trauma. But would be dead interesting to see one of the best footballers in the world helmet up and try his luck at it, think that’s unprecedented.

Am guessing kickers in the NFL can play until mid 40s? They’re just wheeled out to launch the ball a few times a game aren’t they.

It's probably not as easy as he thinks to become a kicker. NFL kickers need to be consistent. They do the same thing every single time and it's a technique they will have been practicing 100x per day for 20 years by the time they are Kane's age. Footballers spend their whole time practicing different things so while a football player could probably score a field goal I'm not sure they'll have the consistency to do it every time. It would be an interesting experiment and they make good enough money it would be something interesting to do instead of going to play a rubbish standard of football in USA/Saudi/China etc.

Yes, totally different culture as well.

Going from being the superstar main man who plays every minute and captains England and Spurs, to being basically like the keeper who is subbed on just for penalties. Not that Kane has one but it would be a different experience for any footballer’s ego. I would guess kickers are seen as a weird oddity in an NFL dressing room, seeing as they’re mainly skinny old white guys and don’t do any of the physical stuff.

The culture around the team would be so different as well compared to the banter and pints of British football. I have no idea what NFL players do for fun.

I know we mock their pads and helmets and everything but jesus, it’s a brutal, heavy-hitting sport as well because they’re such explosive athletes. Average career is about 3 years. Major issues with CTE. I read a thing recently that said running backs - the guys who get handed the ball and told to run into the pile of bodies - have an average career of 2.5 years, and it’s going down all the time. They used to be the star players but now no-one drafts running backs high, because their bodies can’t handle it. So they’re seen as disposable now, you just get a new one when you break the old one.

Am trying to imagine Neymar’s reaction if he was an NFL kicker and got tackled by 10 guys as built and explosive as Adama Traore running at full pelt.

I've seen him hit 60 yard field goals on a training field which puts him up there with the best in the nfl in terms of leg strength.

Its obviously a lot different in a game situation though when the game is on the line. It would be interesting to see how Kane would do though, he obviously has the natural talent and work ethic to potentially succeed but I don't think its a given either.

Can’t see it happening myself. Genuine NFL players will not be happy with some retired footballer rocking up thinking he can hit field goal after field goal.

I seem to remember Jonny Wilkinson considering the NFL at one point too and that never happened.

Christian Wade, who was a brilliant Union winger got on the roster for the Denver Broncos at one point but only ever their training squad. He was never taken on professionally.

Kane has little chance and is probably not even serious about it.

Punters & Kickers can drill them between the posts from 70+ yards in training even non-NFL players can hit one from 80...

It isn't pure power that is important, it is the height required to get it over the defenders so it isn't blocked, then the power to carry the distance and of course the accuracy to get it between the posts.

I just can't see that Kane (or anyone transferring sport at 30+ despite how often they kick a ball) would be able to master the timing & technique coupled with the power & accuracy to make it in the NFL.

I'm not saying he'd walk into a starting job for an NFL team but I wouldn't write him off either. We're not talking about a semi pro footballer playing in the Northern league this is literally one of the best strikers in the world.

Another thing is this isn't really like a Rugby player learning to play as a running back or whatever other crossover player has tried over the years. Kane wouldn't have to learn tactics or a playbook, he'd just need to learn the timing and its whether he has the leg strength for it.

I know he's practiced hitting a still ball over the nfl posts so to go from that to timing a moving ball on an nfl field with 6 monsters bearing down on him is a huge transition. But he has an absolute wand of a right foot and if he can hit a half volley on the move in front of 90k at Wembley I'm confident he could have a good shot at NFL kicking.

The issue for Kane is he might need a couple of years of practice to give himself a chance of making it and will he still have the passion and drive once he's retired from football? Kickers are almost like outcasts in an NFL dressing room, they train on their own and are barely seen as footballers by their team mates. He'd go a huge star in football to a tiny fish in a huge pond in the NFL.

I'd be really interested to see how he did but I'd be surprised if he actually goes through with it.

I remember footage of Beckham nailing a field goal from fkn miles.
It was a promotion for Adidas or Nike or something, but I don't know if it was fake.

Funny, Beckham is the first person who sprung to mind who would be good at this.

Insane dead ball technique, best I’ve ever seen by far.
