If you are not familiar with this venue for music put it on your to do list next Summer. Fabulous place to watch bands. Saw James and War on Drugs there last Summer. Unique setting. Bit like a renaissance Italian piazza.

Next Summer they have already announced a number of artists

Richard Ashcroft
Pixies
Tom Jones
PJ Harvey
Crowded House
Status Quo
Tom Odell
Mcfly
Jess Glynne

Brilliant venue to catch a gig. Some great bars around there as well so I'd defnitely recommend making an afternoon of it and having a few drinks beforehand as the atmosphere around the town is great.

i was looking at this place over the weekend and didnt realise it was so big with a capacity of 5500! defo one to add to the list of venues i want to visit!

The Christmas light parade that went around town last week and ended up in the Piece Hall was brilliant. And I have never seen the town centre so packed... and it felt like there were more people in the Piece Hall around the Christmas market that day than at a sold out gig. It is a fantastic venue, which I've posted about before. I have tickets for Crowded House next mid-summer. I've seen some brilliant gigs there: Father John Misty, First Aid Kit, Elbow, The Cribs, Manics with Sea Power, Richard Hawley with Edwyn Collins and recently Johnny Marr with The Charlatans. The one I wish I'd got to was James. Gutted I missed that. Mrs 259 went.
The Christmas market ended yesterday, soon to be replaced by the Spiegeltent for Christmas performances.
@Carl1978 we must be near neighbours. I'm up near Ogden.

I pitty alex scott if she has to hear to her jess sing in the shower. I was working away and used jet2 frequently and they used one of her screming diitys on landing every fůcking flight it must have counted as emotional abuse for the flight crew

Yes mate I've literally just got back from a dog walk around Ogden Water!
My good mate is involved with Halifax Golf Club so I'm often up that way for a beer.
I live in Claremount just along from the Prospect pub.

You have a black dog about labrador size? I am there most days as I'm a volunteer ranger. I was up there clearing out blocked drainage about 2 hours ago.

I remember seeing Crass at I think the Claremount (Liberal Club?) in Halifax in the early 1980s.
A mate and I had hitched down as Crass and Poison Girls were playing in Halifax one night and Bradford the next (or may have been the night before as memory is a bit faded)
The Halifax gig was great, but the Bradford one (at Queen's Hall???) had a load of skinheads there looking for punks from outside the area to have ago at.
We just escaped with our lives after some pretty hectic violence...then had to hitch back on I think what was a Bank Holiday weekend which resulted in walking about 40 miles and sleeping under hedges as nobody would stop for two scruffy punks who looked like they'd been sleeping under a hedge.
