Gyokeres

Some players just fit a system perfectly. Buy them and they look trash in your team because they dont fit with that system. We've wasted loads of players like that - A Alves, Assombalonga, Saville. We need to buy the Slavens and Mustoes. players that fit our system and cost pennies (plus want to give their all for the team - "Attitude over ability").
 
I think they'll want a lot more than 8 million.

For a young proven championship goal scorer, I can't see them asking for less than we'd ask for for Spence.

Goals always cost more.
 
Fulham apparently looked at him in January but baulked at the transfer fee asked of around £20 million. Would love him here but I just can't see it.
 
A very good player in a very good team, he certainly won't come cheap.

I'm more concerned about the volume of strikers at the club - we've only got Coburn and his future (development loan?) doesn't look confirmed yet.

I'm not convinced Akpom or Uche will play a part next season so we're looking at probably signing a minimum of 3 strikers, likely 4.
 
Can't see a PL team forking out on a player who's only had one good season, so if Coventry are willing to cash in it will likely be a relegated team like Watford or Norwich.

Id be amazed if Uche or Akpom ever pull a Boro shirt on again - that would only happen if we had failed to get anyone in
 
Deniz Undav - also at brighton - take him on a loan - or Andi Zeqiri - however i doubt brighton will want to send us anymore players after the abuse connolly got .

coventry took a few brighton players on loan, they built a relationship with them (it includes their fans not slagging loan players off n social media or boo-ing them when they come on as subs) before they got to Gyokeres (£2M !).

theres zero chance of Boro getting Gyokeres - one, we couldnt afford the fee and two, Connolly (his mate) will tell him to give us a swerve, even if we could.


howmuch better it would have been if Connolly was able to say - "to be honest mate, i had a mare up there, but the fans were different class - backed me every game, even when i was not doing the business - they'll be with you through the tuff times, go for it with them"

I think you're putting far too much weight on the value of an individual players opinion of their time here.
Connolly was rubbish, Gyokeres would expect to come and score goals and wouldn't give it a second thought if he felt it was a good career move and the money was good.
