Grand National

My best year was backing Mr Frisk, we used to know the breeders up by Lingdale, and my wife used to help out at the stables etc in swaps/payment for livery fees for horse.
Used to do quite well a few years ago, and when we lived in the UK I'd always have a day each way bet on a couple of horses for them

For anyone looking to have a bet in the national if you eliminate all horses based on the following set of rules you would only have missed, as I recall, 3 of the last 20 winners.

Eliminate
Any horse out of the handicap

Any horse carrying more than 11st 5lb

Any horse without a run in the last 52 days

Any horse that has run in the last 13 days

Any horse wearing blinkers or a visor

Any horse not between 8 and 12

Any horse that has failed to win this season

Any horse that has fallen this season

Any horse that has not been placed in the first 3 this season

Any horse that has not won over more than 3 miles

Any horse that is not been out of novice company for 2 seasons

Any mares

Any previous winners of the race

Any horse ridden by a lady

Any horse that's ratibg its based on rings on a foriegn track.

This will give you a list of horses that fit the national profile and very little chance of eliminating the winner.

I would also add, for future reference eliminate this year's gold Cup winner.

Ain't nobody got time for that - who does that leave?

Cheers laughing, I've used similar trends in the past and they do work, the trouble is even eliminating half the field still leaves 20 of the buggers to pick from😁

It absoloutely does, and before I go on, I am not suggesting anyone does this, eliminating half the field means you can back the remaining 20 hoses and make a small profit. Whilst this is a terrible strategy it demonstrates why the grand national is such value for money for punters.

If I were to have a bet in the national today I would go for 2 against the field. Taking Risks and Kimberlite Candy. I know the second one fails one of my rukes, but has clearly been laid out for this race.

If anyone is interested my wifes picks are £1 e.w. on Acapella Bourgeois, Mister Malarkey, Cabaret Queen and Double Shuffle. She knows nothing about horses.

I've picked:

Definitely Red e/w
Lake View Lad
Vieux Lion Rouge

Mrs Fufkin:

Ami Desbois e/w
Takingrisks
Cloth Cap
