Just because someone is in a big house doesn’t mean they won’t be struggling. Perfectly reasonable to assume many people in this situation have been hit massively with huge mortgage increases along with huge energy bills. You could realistically be looking at £500-£1k higher every month for just those two bills alone from last year and are likely working in jobs that have had a real terms pay cut. Where do you find that sort of extra money every month?

Yes people in this position aren’t going to starve but they absolutely should get assistance just like this from the government. The lower-middle income bracket has received next to nothing from the government throughout this last few years.

Also how will it be possible to reduce the countries energy demand with millions of poorly insulated homes that home owners can’t afford to upgrade?
