Good players we have let go and regretted.

I know he was on loan, but Muniz.

It makes you think, 'what did they do to him?'
Everyone could see he looked a good player, great first touch, powerful and fast, but he seemed to drift through games.

I thought it was the right decision to send him back, no surprise he is doing really well now though.

Think you've answered your own question there 😉

In any case I think it can be true that he was happy to go (particularly given Pulis wanted rid so he didn't make him look bad by scoring goals and playing better than Gestede despite not being 6 foot 3) but would also have been happy to stay if the manager rated him.
I dont think it sat well with pulis that Bamford was far more intelligent and eloquent than him.

Low bar for Paddy.

I don't think he showed anything whilst here to suggest he would be doing what he's doing now. And in any case it's not as if he went back and straight away was knocking them in for fun. Perhaps it was simply a case getting of settled and overcoming the language barrier?

He showed he was a really good player but only in flashes.
Like I said he just seemed to drift through games, (some loan players tend to do this)
Akpom was just starting to really fire and we brought the 2 young lads from Villa on loan, he went back, at the time I thought it was the right decision.

His wages won’t have been cheap and he probably needed time to settle and that was something we didn’t have.

There was talk of Morsy being disruptive in the dressing room and he didn’t do anything to show he was a top player while he was here. The drop down a division might have scared him into changing his ways or maybe we just weren’t the team to get the best out of him.

I thought Adam Reach would have went on to to have a career in the Prem

Another vote for James Morrison

Anyone mentioned Stuani yet?

What gets me is Robson paying out £5m for Pally and Cooper to come back to the club when they were well past their best. Think we paid £3m for Brian Deane too at the time when he had not long since gone to Benfica for £1m!

Disagree with that, cooper played very well for seasons after re-signing so was a great buy. The much maligned deane was actually a good player for us as well.

Fair comment didn't realise he played nearly as many games in his second spell with us than the first

Pally was 33, Cooper 31 when they resigned

There is usually a premium for players coming in from overseas compared to going the other way. Time left on his contract may have contributed to this as well as his performances playing for Benfica. He played on for about 5 years after leaving Boro so he was hardly on his last legs when we signed him.

Pally & Coops were to provide defensive steel after our hopeless defence we had in 96/97.

It work. It was never a long term solution .
