Goals per game Premier League versus Championship

As things stand tonight (according to footystats) there have been an average of 3.58 goals per game in the Premier League so far this season compared with 1.94 goals per game in the Championship. It's early in the season but that is quite a significant difference.

Judging by this, it's not just Boro who are maintaining a solid defensive base while struggling to score at the other end so far this season. Early days though.

Historically, both the Premier League and Championship normally average around 2.7 goals per game.

Could it be that the coaches more willing to adapt to new ideas are in the top flight and haven't taken long to follow the lead of the more recent successful managers in committing to a more attacking philosophy?

I was attributing the glut of Premiership goals (and NFL points) to a lack of a preseason and defences that weren't fully up to speed. Perhaps strikers are not at as comparatively high a level as opposed to undrilled defenders in the Championship?

I think it is more this, most decent strikers from the championship are now in the Premier league, even if they are just squad players.

It's more that Premier League defending and goalkeeping has been shambolic this season.
Then with weird games like Villa v Liverpool, half the goals took huge deflections.
