Glover = Not good enough

I thought the same about this match to be honest with you. I still think Glover is a decent second keeper to have around but since Dieng came back into the picture his performances have tilted massively.

Carricks made a rod for his own back with sticking with Glover. Don’t get wrong, I think he’s done ok as a second choice since he’s came into the team, but he’s also cost us a fair few points. MC is going to have to bite the bullet and put Dieng back in and when he does he’ll look indecisive. He wants his keeper to play the ball out with his feet but is making a point of keeping the keeper who’s best at doing that on the bench, it makes no sense.

Made some good saves as well tbf
Can't say I recall any that were anything more than saves you would expect that even Lumley would have made, but I will subject myself to rewatching the highlights incase my memory is just fogged over from the overall ***** performance.

Definitely got to be Dieng for the rest of the season. Glover was excellent when he first came in, almost like for like. Recently, he has made some terrible mistakes, seems unsure but he is unable to set the tempo for the team. He takes and age to get the ball moving and always goes for the simple pass. Dieng is quicker and is able to find a decent pass out from the back and get the team going forward.

There was one in the first half where he made the initial save then sprung up to make a second save which was top drawer.

It was when we were 2-0 down and our defence parted like the Red Sea to let their striker pick his spot

They were shooting as soon as they got into the box as they had clearly identified the Brad Jones trait of making a stop but not a save - the spills and parries were what they were going to feed off.

Dieng has also conceded in such a fashion this season, shots hit between the penalty spot and edge of the box are a real threat against him.

Kept the score down but ultimately done poor on the first goal, he also played a horrendous ball out when he was out of his goal. Was at fault against Sunderland and questions marks over the first goal against Preston.

He is no where near good enough with his feet compared to Dieng. When he gets the ball inside his 6 yard box and he stops the ball dead and a striker is closing him down it's heart attack stuff !

Fair enough, I subjected myself to rewatching the highlights and there were one or two decent saves.

They didn't have 22 on target. I'm saying it's clear they were happy to have more pops from distance because they had identified Glovers shot stopping as a weakness. The number of shots that rebound into dangerous areas off his saves are ridiculous.

I'm not blaming glover for the loss today, but I don't think he is good enough to be our number one keeper.

The persistence to play out from the back and putting ourselves under pressure needlessly is my main issue. We don't have the players comfortable enough to do it. Teams press us from the goal line and we give them too many chances from our own poor play. The risk v reward of doing it at the moment is poor.

We start games too slowly, we let teams walk through our midfield unchallenged.

His handling wasn't great, but Jesus, the number of players that were left free to take a shot was appalling. 22 shots against is like something from football manager. The defence and midfield were an absolute disorganised shambles. At one point they broke three against two and both VDB and McNair instead of going to the man on the ball stuck on the players either side of him and allowed him a free shot at goal from eight yards. **** poor.

That was one of the ones he made the double save from. Diabolical defending. VDB had a shocker today
