Giles, Choudhary, Lenihan, Darlow

Why was he recalled?
Stats look class.

The stats look good, nice bit of balance, im not into caining loans because if you go up you get quoted daft prices to keep them on, and you need a full rebuild if not.

Cover for Covid by the sounds of.

Wolves have recalled youngster Ryan Giles from his loan spell with Cardiff City.

The 21-year-old returns to his parent club this month having enjoyed a productive first half of the season in the Championship. Giles is joint-top of the assist charts in the league with nine, along with Reading’s John Swift.

Giles has made 21 appearances for Cardiff, 19 of them starts, either as a left forward or a wing-back in either a 5-4-1 or 3-4-3 formation.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said in a statement: “Gilo has been doing great out on loan. He’s been playing in numerous positions, on both wings and wing-back, and has done very well. Now, with Covid, injuries and international call-ups, players are dropping out, and he’ll be added to the squad.

“What he’s been doing at Cardiff has been impressive, when he was in forward positions his assist record was outstanding, and this is an opportunity to come back and train with the first-team and show Bruno what he’s learned.

“He came back in the November international break, which was great, and we now need to make sure we have options during the current Covid situation. It’s a chance to work with a Premier League first-team for him and we’re making sure we’re protecting ourselves.”

Covid outbreak, injuries and AFCON led to a depleted squad at Wolves, they recalled him just in case.

If these signings are the start of our rebuilding, it would be time to get very excited for the season ahead and very hard not to get carried away
Not to sound negative, these are exciting times, but we've only signed one of these players so far. And from what I gather / can see, things have gone very very quiet on the spence sale front, we may need to be prepared for the fact we could miss out on Gykores for example and may need to rely on loans/ looking for lesser known bargains on terms of strikers if we can't sell spence until late in the window

I don’t think our season hangs on signing Gykores to be honest. Chris Wilder made a comment that he though he looked good. Coventry picked him up for button and then the social media has snowballed him into some prem ready all singing all dancing top striker. (similar with Scott Twine)

7th top scorer last season, Coventry fans half expected for teams to come in for him and would be happy at £4m+ to reinvest in the team for a striker who ‘does run around a lot to his credit’ - Coventry fans more concerned with O’Hare who pulls the strings and makes the team tick.

I don’t think we need to rely on any money from Spence to bring in players. The money from outgoings will more than cover our needs.

So far I’m guessing we’re looking at something like this..

Stojanovic - Liam Roberts
Lumley, Brynn, Hemming - Daniel Iverson

Wood - Ajibola Alese
Olusanya - Ryan Giles
Bamba, Peltier & Taylor - Darragh Lenihan

Sporar- Adam Armstrong
Balogun - Cameron Archer
Connolly - Troy Parrott

As long as we bring in better than what goes out we’ll do well. Anything extra will do us good in January or even the following summer.

Just reading the conversation on Armstrong -his Wikipedia has been updated a couple of days back. Sure it's a bit of mischief, however...

Darlow I never wanted - just don't think he's good enough
Chaudhary - Robbie Savage with more red cards IMHO - athletic & puts himself about though never saw the quality.

overall very happy with the ones in.... just needed a couple more in the midfield, esp after losing Tav..
I do think Chuba up top with Muniz could really work.. & CW really needs to use Forss & Hoppe well also..

Must be a few EU nationals available out of contract with experience & ability.

Oh well 2 out of 4 of these, Giles is outstanding and I’m sure lenihan will get better, keep the faith UTB
Giles is an outstanding signing. I think Muniz will do really well for us.

Why are you sure Lenihan will get better?
I can't get my head round preferring him to Fry.

He was one of the top defenders in the championship last season, he's playing a different brand of footy this season, and has been improving, he's never a prem player, but decent enough at this level. Maybe would be better on the right of a 3 with Fry central and Clarke right.

2021 SUMMER TRANSFERS VS 2022 SUMMER TRANSFERS

Jeremy Sivi vs Ryan Giles - Loan
Sammy Ameobi vs Marcus Forss
Joe Lumley vs Zach Steffen - Loan
Uche Ikpeazu vs Rodrigo Muniz - Loan
Lee Peltier vs Tommy Smith
Matt Crooks vs Alex Mowatt - Loan
Martín Payero vs Riley McGree
Luke Daniels vs Liam Roberts
Sol Bamba vs Darragh Lenihan
Toyosi Olusanya vs Matthew Hoppe
Neil Taylor vs Matt Clarke

I mean I guess we're covered.. we I better.. I guess.

3 transfers down on last season, one loan up and Riley McGree carried onto this summer's activity.

a hard transfer window? no harder than Neil Warnock had it last summer.. missing player? we had the same an more last season. not sure how long we had the likes of Dijksteel, Fry, Hall & Bola missing but it was substantial. Warnock was criticised for loaning out Djed Spence but then again that resulted in Isaiah Jones and us pocketing a cool £12.5m!

Have we been backed more than we were last season? I don't think we have, I have illustrated us being 3 or 4 transfer moves down they are covered on the whole.. just less work for us to do compared to last. Don't let this hardest transfer window we've ever known malarkey!

of the three transfer moves not taken this summer compared to last, although I rate Boyd-Munce much higher than JLS I don't think Chris Wilder is convinced.

DM James Lea Siliki - Caolan Boyd-Munce
AM Onel Hernandez - Ryan Giles
ST Andraz Sporar - Marcus Forss

All out for Ross Barkley on a free to show at least some intent. We've dropped the ball.. and perhaps intentionally so in order to have the cash to do it.

Leave it until January to bring in a striker and an attacking midfielder. I'm guessing our points tally will determine our level of investment.

We've got one more loan spot available and potentially a premier league sized carrot come January.

Callum O'Hare & Viktor Gyokeres in January anyone?

A 36 man squad. No wonder how managers have so much difficulty putting a side together, far too many to choose from. Explains why the ticket prices are so high

5 of the ones listed are out on loan 31
and I think 9 are academy players so.. 22 ain’t so bad.
We have 22 senior players in our current squad.
The squad is small, especially in midfield.
5 more are out on loan, 3 of who are out of contract at the end of the loan (Lumley, Hall, Coulson)
4 of the current squad are loans who will return to their club in May.
5 more; Watmore, Akpom, Howson, Smith and Daniels are all out of contract in June next year.

Unless we resign some of the players who go out of contract we will have 15 senior players on July 1st.
Of those, Crooks, Bola, Fry, McNair go into the final year of their contracts and Payero looks gone in addition.

Wilder has been left light now and without recruitment in Jan will remain so.
Next summer will need young players to have really stepped up and a lot of activity in the market.

It’s almost as if we have a long term plan 😉
