Gig ticket prices

What’s a reasonable price to be expected for Coldplay tickets?

They go on sale for Munich on Thursday. I’ve been told 1. I’ll be lucky to get a ticket despite them announcing a third night there and 2. It’ll be £200 per ticket?

Really?

I've just paid £240 for 2 standard tickets to see Depeche Mode in Prague next February.
We should think ourselves lucky that we don't live in the US where 'dynamic pricing' is off the scale.

£120 a ticket and travel 1600 miles to see (with binoculars?) a group of old men play their songs from 43 years ago - seems a lot to me.

Certainly no cost of living crisis in the music business.

It's mental the inflation now. I remember seeing Trivium (not on the same size I know) around 12/13 years ago, then 11, then 10 years ago and tickets were no more than £18.
They're about the same size, playing the same venue and the tickets are £45. Absolute madness how much we're charged for tickets for events now.

I paid £30 to see Foo Fighters in Newcastle abour 15 years ago.

Just paid £80 few weeks ago to see them next year.

Prices for gigs have soared.

Up until about 3 years ago I used to promote gigs in my local village hall. I have a few mates who are professional musicians and performers, so this helped me to get some pretty decent names to perform for us on the cheap... the guys from Lindisfarne, Dean Friedman, Richard Digance to name but a few. Never charged over £15 a pop for 100 bums on seats.

While the above prices were ridiculously cheap, I couldn't imagine ever paying 200 squid to see anybody.

Indoor arena so no binoculars required. Only two original members now both aged 61 which is hardly old relatively speaking. They've had many albums out over the last 40 years including one from earlier this year which reached No.2 in the UK album chart. I suppose you could call it a passion of mine, just like watching the Boro (y)

They charge more now because there is a bigger market for live music since no one buys albums any more.

I’m seeing the Charlatans in December and that was £60. “Bigger” acts can easily be north of £100.

Last summer I saw the b****d son of Dean Friedman. £22 🤷‍♂️

Easy one - if you baulk at the price, don't pay it. If you aren't bothered, go for it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lot of bands I would love to see, but refuse to fork out best part of £100 to see them.

Unless they are getting on a bit and may be their final tour…...Iron Maiden at £75 was worth it👍

Strange that gig tickets in the States were a fraction of what's asked over here when I was over there. They had to travel more miles too.
